I guess I have always been used to companies standing by their products. Well, with Best Buy read the fine print. Bring your product back on the 31st day and you will not get a refund, exchange or anything else. It's within 30 days or else. The product I brought back had never been opened, was not damaged and would have been able to go back onto the shelf.
I guess this is their way of ensuring they stay around for a while. Instead of customer service - their people are told they are to deny and/all returns past that 30 days.
Be careful out there - if you might need to return - go early! I will never purchase anything on-line or in their stores again. This is the 2nd time this has happened and they have lost a good customer!

#6 Consumer Suggestion
C'mon now - rethink this

If it was your business all you bloggers, you would turn this customer away? Even if you could resell this new? C'mon, many retailers would gladly give store credit to keep the customer. No harm here at all and all parties win.
Many retailers work with the customers beyond the posted return policy because it's good business to do so - on a case by case basis.

Umm did you say you were an ex-employee? The f3 button, clearly labeled "Exception" will allow you to return absolutely anything without manager approval or anything. I used this all the time, because Best Buy managers really are stupid, heartless d*bags.

Not the employees fault

The best part is, they blame the Best Buy employees. Even if they wanted to break the rules for your clearly unique and never-before-seen issue, the computer won't let them. The current programs they use allows absolutely no exceptions to the return policy. Stop blaming the poor kids getting $8-$10 and hour to put up with over-indulged self-important p***k customers.

Rules need not apply...

I love the part where he says "This is the 2nd time this has happened and they have lost a good customer!".

Easy to understand

You think 31 days is OK, how about 32? 40? 60? Where should the cutoff be?
The cutoff is 30, real easy to understand. Why do you think the policies should not apply to you?
Ridiculous!

Return Policy

You're right, you should read the return policy of stores you purchase from. If their policy is 30 days, you really have no reason to be upset if they don't take it back on the 31st day. The responsibility is on you to return an item within 30 days and you did not do that. Your fault, not best buy's.
