We have paid approximately $50.00 per month for two years on insurance with Best Buy to cover our payments in the event that my spouse lost his job, or in the event of disability or death. My spouse did loose his job on 2-24-09. We filed a claim and have been denied. They are saying he must be collecting unemployment checks or this does not cover us. We never heard anything like this until we filed a claim. I wrote an appeal letter and they are saying they never received it. I faxed the same information proving that he did loose his job due to an accident. They still say they do not have the appeal even though I have a confirmation that it went through.

I have been three months trying to get this taken care of. They did not mind charging us the money every month for the insurance and raising our bill to enormous amounts by adding this on. They never had to call us for the premiums and now that we need to use this protection that we thought we purchased, it appears to be a farce.

You need to get out the policy that you signed up for and read it again. Most of these policies are Involuntary Unemployment coverage. It means you have to be fired from the job through no fault of your own. If your husband quit his job, then it was voluntary separation and they would not have to cover it.

Even still, most of these policies will only make your minimum payment and only for a short time. The reason they ask about unemployment, if you get involuntarily separated from a job then you qualify for unemployment. Does your husband qualify for unemployment?
