*Consumer Comment: It's not the dealerships fault
I have a 2003 ford explorer that is under warranty and it needs a cadilac converter .My car is still at the dealership and it has been 8 weeks now. we have called a lot of times and the service people are telling us the part has not come in yet and they dont know when its gonna be there. They wont give us a loaner so we spent a lot of money on rentals ,taxi's or gas money to be able to go to work and back.

#2 Consumer Suggestion
Check your warranty

I think you should check your warranty regarding a loaner. I have purchased (new) a 1994 ranger, a 1998 ranger, and a 2002 F-150. All of these vehicles had a warranty that required a loaner vehicle if warrenty repairs were going to take more than 2 days. This was under the standard 3 yr/ 36,000 mile "bumper to bumper" Ford warranty.
I don't know about an explorer but it wouldn't hurt to check your warranty. If you can't find your paperwork, you can go to Ford.com website and look it up.

It's not the dealerships fault

I have worked for Ford parts for many years now. It is not the dealerships fault that your converter is not in yet. Ford has been forced to change suppliers because the last supplier went out of business. The new supplier added two shifts to it's production just for Ford Motor Co. I can totally understand your frustration, but again, don't take it out on the dealer. Instead, call the Ford customer service number that can be found in your owners manual and ask them to help you. I'm sure the dealer has done all they can for you at this point and must rely on FoMoCo. to supply them the converter for your vehicle.
