Advertised RV for sale on Craig's list at Consignment shop. Went out to look, was directed to talk to owner, gave me business card. Called and spoke to owner, Bill Moyer. Instructed to deposit $500 to test drive RV. After a week, test drove it.
Two days later decided not to buy. Instructed $500 deposit not refundable.

Please tell us that you didn't just hand over $500 without signing anything. So what did you sign and what did it state about the refundability of the "deposit" or the terms of the test-drive.
As it seems you kept the test-drive for either a couple of days or over a week. At any time did the "test drive" become a rental?
