Membership is free. BlockBuster has a "Rewards" program that has a nominal fee. Mind you even though the employees are pushed to sell this to you, they will always be honest when you start asking questions. Such as "Will it benefit me?"

I would tell the ways you could take advatage of the program to benefit you. But if you are not a frequent customer, I would give you warning. Usually the worst that would happen is you would get coupons over the course of a year (your choice in using them or not), as well as with the accumulation of your rentals you get free ones for that.

The system has flaws, yes, that make it difficult to repair mistakes and most employees even the ones sent to specified training are not aware of how to fix something. We can cancel your rewards membership, but you will not be refunded money because that is how the system works. If you use your coupons for free rentals you will need all of only 3 free ones to have already paid for the membership so really there is no loss.

Also, on your application and in your account the is a little box you check about marketing and promotions, if you do not have that checked you will not recieve mail.

READ what they give you about the "Rewards" program. You generally start off as a "Blue" member which costs an annual fee. There is also "Gold" members who don't pay for the service because they rent so many per year.

What most Gold members don't know is that the "Gold" status can be taken away if you don't keep up with however many rents per year the service is.

Basically the whole program is not a loss if you use it properly. Know the days you can rent one, get a favorite for free. Look at the bottom of your reciept and it will tell you how many rents you have to go before you earn your free one of the month. Mind you, when the month expires, so does your tally.

So Reverb

1. BlockBuster NEVER charges for membership.
2. BlockBuster charges for a program/service that you should not be ill informed about if you choose to use it.
3. The program is for your benefit, not thiers, you don't use it to help yourself, Your fault.
4. Most employees are happy to answer questions so you know what you are doing with your money for your entertainment. One bad incident is not everywhere.
5. ASK THEM TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PROMOTIONS ENABLED ON YOUR ACCOUNT. NO PROMOTIONS=NO PROMOTIONS i.e. you free coupons blah blah blah etc.
