Holly Maxwell is selling pet quality puppies for $3,000. Without doubt buyers feel that the puppies are show quality because of the high prices. Consumer beware that as many as 75 percent of the Chihuahua puppies on Blue Chis Ranch Site are pet quality and  NOT show quality. It is true that most all breeders whould have the pet quality puppies much lower then show quality puppies, but Blue Chis Ranch does not do this. Blue Chis Ranch bought many of the breeding dogs for $500  up to $1,000 to $2000 for Champions, yet they charge $3000 and above for pet quality puppies that have no chance to win championship. If you are going to pay $2000 or more a Chihuahua puppy then the puppy should be show quality, NOT pet quality! Shame on any breeder who posts very high prices to deliberately mislead consumers to think a puppy is show quality beause of the high price alone.

I do not know of any other Chihuahua breeder online using "BOUGHT" Champions to mislead the consumer to buy pet quality puppies at exhorbitant prices. A disgrace. For those of you who have paid thousands for puppies who have turned out homely and far from show quality, you should speak up to warn others. For certain there are many of you out there, far more then those who have bought show quality puppies. Sure there will be loyal customers who won't be able to face they paid so much for a pet quality, or they actually got a show quality for the price they paid, but  I know of someone I met on a forum who bought a puppy from Holly Maxwell for show and it turned out 10 lbs and she could have gotten one like that quality for $300. This woman is afraid to come out and tell her story because Holly Maxwell's contract threatens to sue and collect attorney fees, in so many words " if anyone dare cause her problems". This is exactly what the buyer told me.

Firm Your Oan Opinion

AUTHOR: Snazibug - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, July 02, 2017

I lost my pet in March and started looking for another pet. A friend got a Chihuahya and she is precious so I decided I wanted one. In my Google search I found Holly and her website. She was very professional but sympathetic of my circumstances. I saw a puppy that tugged at my heart on her website and the price was $1800. I am having home renovations that won't be completed until end of July. She accepted $100 down to hole the puppy and was going to work with me on paying two payments and getting the puppy the first part of August. In the meantime I realized I'm still grieving over my loss and am not ready yet for a new puppy. Not only was Holly exceptionally understanding and sympathetic but even said when I am ready she will apply the $100 I paid her toward another puppy.

She couldn't have been nicer to me. I don't believe a word of the negative things said about her because she was so nice to me. I am writing this in hopes that for people who read this complaint against Holly you will form your own opinion from your own experience with Holly and will give her a chance - there are always two sides to every story. It's too easy for someone who is angry to post hurtful and damaging things online and it can be so harmful to the person. Ring written about so if you are interested in a Chihuahua puppy give Holly and BCR Chihuahuas a chance and use your own experience and judge for yourself. The puppy I wanted was $1800 and beautiful and she does offer a health guarantee. Don't let one person's post keep you from giving Holly a chance.

I can prove this person wrong

Anyone who wants to know the truth about Holly Maxwells Dogs and her breeding ethics...here is a real easy way to tell that the person who wrote this is lying...  go to infodog.com , go to winner of the week, if there are any shows in Holly's area click on them...click on chihuahuas long coat and smoothcoat..and you can see her wins for yourself...also google her name and look there at all the show wins she has had...beleive me when i say a dog that is improperly kept or poorly bred or is in poor condition will not win dog shows....her dogs are some of the most beautiful dogs around...she is doing so good in the show ring that jealeous people want to tear her down..this is not how show people should act...it is a sport and sportman like conduct should be applied...I too am a show breeder and would take any one of Holly's dogs in a heartbeat...this ugliness needs to stop!  As far as buying champions...I do not know if she has, but many breeders do buy champion breeding stock to improve their lines..I have done that myself and there is nothing wrong with that...new blood is good.  But everytime I see one of Holly's champs in the ring it always has her kennel name on it...

NOT reputable at all, horrible place to buy a chihuahua

AUTHOR: none - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, March 31, 2011

I bought a little chi from this lady, she is not where you would want to buy your new puppy from, at all.

Please do not comment on these sites if you do not know the facts, and you definately do not know the facts.

This Holly Maxwell and family are a puppy mill selling on the internet,

These people who are posting this information are not jealous, they are trying to warn people about them, duh. Mine was filled with worms, 8wks of treatment and loose wormy stools everyday, it was a complete disappointment, not to mention very expensive after I just paid 2900.00 for a sick puppy, nice, yeah that reputable. really people, the fancy website is a ploy, it is for gullable people like yourself, until they rip you off !

This was my second puppy and the first one I purchased from someone else was in perfect health and was 1900.00 cheaper. no worms, no health issues with worms, NOT a good Place to buy from.

pet quality priced similar to show quality-who desires to spend over $2000 if not show quality?

Educate yourself on the ethical show breeder's way of life. See the day and night contrast between them and Blue Chis Ranch. For starters check out PROUX CHIHUAHUAS, LIMAR CHIHUAHUAS, MORGAN CHIHUAHUAS and HARGER CHIHUAHUAS.

These are REAL show breeders who have more Champions then Blue Chis Ranch, and self made Champions, not bought. PLUS notice how they have no puppies available for sale AND own less then 20 adult Chihuahuas. Wake up and smell the truth, because 150 dogs in a kennel is not a pretty picture no matter how elegant a website is to try to lead you to think differently. Don't be fooled because a breeder bought and displayed several Champions to hide a mill. If every mill owner would buy a few Champions and display them on a pretty website, then that ends puppymills? For starters if you want quality at more reasonable prices find out where Holly Maxwell bought those Champions! No wonder she doesn't post the original breeders of the Champions. Because THERE is where the quality comes from that Holly Maxwell takes credit for! Be aware as I stated before that Holly Maxwell has only been breeding for 3 years and is selling pet quality puppies as high as her show quality for whatever her reasons are for this. Because of this odd pricing if you buy a puppy from Holly Maxwell that is over $1,500 then I advise you to send the photos of the puppy to show breeders to get their input on the quality. No one should desire to buy a puppy for over $2000 and have the puppy be pet quality. Champion breedings never guarantee show quality young. This will be my last post regarding Blue Chis Ranch. If the consumer now chooses to purchase puppies from Blue Chis Ranch, at least now they will do so with full knowledge of the facts hidden beneath layers of "pretty paint".

$3000 dog?

AUTHOR: Pixyprincess - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 06, 2010

What I find hard to believe is that you are upset about paying $3000 for a dog to keep as a pet.  Just because a dog has papers does not mean it is a show quality dog.  I simply find it unbelievable that people would happily pay that kind of money for a "purebred" show dog when there are countless numbers of pets waiting to be adopted who run the daily risk of being euthanized via gas chamber or heart stick who are not chosen by people because they HAVE to have a purebred. Which means more vet bills, higher chance of inbreeding which results in more serious congenital health conditions, and, in many cases shortened life span. One can even find a purebred dog at an animal shelter, they may not have papers, but they are still faithful companions. If you only want a dog to say you have a "show quality" animal then I don't feel you truly deserve to have a dog of any breed. All animals deserve to be loved and have a warm home, and adoptable animals can be found for a low adoption fee either via shelters or rescue organizations. Instead of complaining about the expensive cost of these dogs, why not go to Petfinder.com and look for a pet there? My rescued Pomeranian was a victim of a puppy mill, she was bred for the first 5 years of her life until she could no longer bear puppies then set loose to fend for herself. As a result of the overbreeding, which happens so people can have a dog "with papers", she could not walk a straight line because she had never had room to walk freely, having been caged her entire life, and her reproductive system was so torn up she had to have a full hysterectomy. Not to mention that the constant upsurge of estrogen from being pregnant since her first time being in heat resulted in malignant breast cancer. But yes, she is a "purebred". And went through hell so people such as yourselves could have a dog with papers.

You are confused. The beautiful website draws attention away from the truth

AUTHOR: nat - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 05, 2010

You are one of many that has been mislead which is why these posts have been made. Sorry to burst your bubble but real show breeders have an average of a few litters a year, and would never in a million years own hundreds of dogs. Do you really think that nearly 200 Chihuahuas share Holly Maxwell's home? Beautiful websites can be used to give false ideas. Beauty is often used to hide ugliness. This has been the case through out man's history. A beautiful woman will easily walk off with a stolen bike, while bystanders witness the theft, yet an unkept homely woman will be confronted by bystanders for the exact same act.

Blue Chi's Ranch is very reputable

AUTHOR: Gloryglory - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 05, 2010

I can't believe I am reading these postings against Blue Chi's Ranch. I have been a faithful visitor to their web site for over two years. I keep looking there because I love the dogs - all of them: dams, sires, pups, champions, pets. I love the beautiful pictures Holly posts. I love the videos of the dogs outside playing. I wish I could just sit on the ground or floor and let them run all over me and kiss me.

I have been aware some champion dogs were bought. That was posted on the site. That's no secret, no deception. Dogs don't just appear out of thin air. You have to start somewhere. Other non-champion dogs also were bought.

Have you ever seen such beautiful dogs? I have a couple dogs of a different breed. I would love to have one of Blue Chi's chihuahuas. Any one of them. To see them is to love them.

I love the fact these owners/breeders love all their dogs and that the dogs live in the house and sleep with the family. My dogs sleep with us, so I know how much Holly's family loves the dogs to let them sleep with them.

Why would anyone else care how much someone sells or buys a dog? Do you care how much someone else pays for a jacket? It sounds to me like there is a big slice of jealousy in play here.

Holly is promoting Chihuahuas and any other breeder ought to be grateful for all  her efforts. Just think - if a buyer can't afford Holly's Chihuahua, maybe that buyer can afford yours! Relax and consider it good PR that your breed is being given so much publicity and fame.

Yeah....Holly does have another site.

Yes, Holly has another site called "SHADY ACRES CHIHUAHUAS".  She says it is for her daughter, Shea O'Connell.  But she is a young child.  It is to further advertise Blue Chi's Ranch.

Her husbands name is Sean O'Connell.  Holly goes by both names.  Mostly Holly Maxwell.
