After 4 back surgeries my husband and I did some researching and thought we had found the perfect mattress.  The Brigada Vellaggio with a "Lifetime" warranty and such bold statements as:

"Strongest Warranty Every Bragada mattress comes with our strong lifetime warranty. Our mattresses are the best quality and we'll prove it to you. Since our factory has been building mattresses since 1958 you know we'll be here if you ever have an issue. Remember, a warranty is only as good as the company offering it."

After 2 years my husband now sleeps in a divot that conforms to his body and is 4 inches deep.  He cannot rollover, turn or get out of bed without first sitting up and using his arm strength to reposition himself. He weighs about 205lbs.

I wake serveral times in the night with severe back pain, though my divot is only about three inches deep. I weigh 135. I ususally am in so much pain by 4 am that I go out and sleep on the couch.

I contacted Brigada and this is what I was told I needed to do to before they would consider our mattress for warranty: #1 Donna explained to me over the phone that I would need to wait at least 4 hours before I measured these divots, to give the mattress time to rise back up.  Funny, it doesn't take 4 hours for our divots to bottom out when we crawl into bed at night.

The following is insturctions from her instructional email:

"To begin the warranty process we would need a minimum of five pictures of your bed. The visible indentations must be greater than 1.75" to be covered by your warranty. Before taking the pictures, please remove all linens from the mattress. You would then need to place a long, flat object across the width of the mattress (metal tape measurer, etc.). The required pictures are: 1. One full view picture of the mattress, from the foot of the bed. 2. One close up view, on an angle, showing the indentations under the flat object. 3. One close up view, on an angle, showing the indentations under the flat object with a ruler lightly resting on the mattress to show the depth of the indentations. (please do not put pressure on the ruler, and please do not place the ruler in the indented quilt pattern of the mattress). 4. One full view picture of the box springs, from the foot of the bed (with the mattress removed). 5. One full view picture of the bed frame, from the foot of the bed (with the box springs removed). Please include your name, order number, daytime phone number and current address. . Please email the pictures to: warranty@bragada.com Please contact the Warranty Department at 800-478-9098, if you do not receive a response to your pictures in 3-4 business days "

Memory Foam Mattress Limited Lifetime Warranty Bragada, Inc. Guarantees that your Bragada Mattress will be, at our option, replaced or repaired, at a shipping/handling cost to you, should it be deemed defective because of faulty workmanship or structural defects during the first fifteen (15) years of the warranty, excluding specific limitations contained herein. It is understood that this limited warranty does not include a normal increase in softness of the Visco-Elastic material or a decrease in the slow recovery feature-aspects which do not affect the pressure-relieving qualities of the mattress. This warranty covers any deterioration in the cell structure of the materials that causes the mattress to have a visible indentation greater than 1.75 inches, not associated with a sag in the wool, Silk, Cashmere or Fiber lined in the cover, foundation, box springs, or platform. It also covers any physical flaw in the mattress that causes the material to split or crack despite normal usage and proper handling. If such defects occur during the remaining years (16th year and on) of this limited warranty we will, at our option, replace or repair the mattress at a shipping/handling cost to you, or replace the mattress at a prorated charge to you. The prorated replacement charge will be fifty (50) percent of the current retail price. Our mattress has been designed to work with a firm, completely flat, wood foundation or semi-flex box spring. Our warranty and other performance guarantees are based on tests conducted on our mattresses. Substitution or use of improper foundations, platforms or other bases upon which the mattress is placed, may result in damage to the product. Should an improper base be utilized by the consumer, causing the product to default, the warranty may be voided. It is incumbent on the consumer to maintain the foundation and provide appropriate support for the mattress. We recommend the purchase of a matching foundation at the time of mattress purchase. You may be required to provide proof as to the quality of the foundation being provided to your mattress in the event of a warranty claim. Queen, King and Cal-King foundations / Box springs must have a center support rail with a minimum of one leg or this warranty is voided. The cover is warranted for two (2) years against faults in the materials or workmanship. This warranty is void if the product is found to have been tampered with or misused by the purchaser beyond reasonable wear, and shall not apply if the product has been physically damaged intentionally or due to accident and/or neglect; including stains, burns, cuts, water damage, mold stains, or is otherwise abnormally soiled or unsanitary. It is incumbent on the consumer to protect the mattress with a stain resistant mattress pad. Law tag is required and is the only acceptable proof of purchase. In order to provide the most optimum sleeping surface, this premium product contains only the finest quality materials. As with all premium sleep products certain body conformity adaptations will take place as your mattress adapts to your particular body shape and type and any peculiarities in your spinal alignment or bone structure. This is to be expected and is part of the performance of your mattress. We do not warrant our product as a remedy for any specific medical condition and do not warrant against any complications resulting from the use or inability to use this product. We do not warrant individual comfort preferences, sheet fit or height issues resulting from purchasers bed frame size or head board style. Should this warranty be exercised and your product replaced and/or repaired, the warranty will not be extended or renewed. Terms and service related in this warranty shall be the consumers sole and exclusive remedy should the product fail during the timeframe stated herein. We make no warrant beyond those terms and conditions stated. The warranty is valid only to the original purchaser of the product. If the original purchaser sells the product, the subsequent purchaser takes the product as is and with all faults. All representative or designated agent shall make the final determination regarding repair or replacement. If product was ordered via internet, telephone or catalog, photos must accompany warranty claim. ALL shipping cost are the responsibility of the purchaser in the event a warranty claim is made. This warranty card must accompany your warranty claim. Please retain a copy of this warranty.

I apologize for the length of this posting.  But I feel that the requirements they require would make anyones claim void.  If the measurements work, which on my husband's side they did.  By the time you lift off this extremely heave mattress, I am sure they would find fault with the box spring and if not that then the bed frame.

I wrote back to Donna and explained my feelings on this and she has ignored me.  Asking people to jump through these hoops is just rediculous.  The warranty is just a part of their scam and ripoff.  I would never recommed this bed to an enemy. I asked Donna in my email if my only option was to take it to the dump and find a new mattress.  No reply.
