Last year my son and 7 other friends decided to break into Dad's Club and steal candy from a concession stand. When the cops saw the kids leaving the concession stand, they were all questioned. The kids who were walking quitely away from the concession stand, though part of the theft, were questioned and released without punishment, because they told the truth about what happened. The other 4 people who "ran" from the scene, were also released, but were arrested one by one from school about a week later(mind you,the other four that were involved were NEVER arrested).

Each child and parent(as far as I know),was given an opportunity to pay $100,and it would "all go away." I could not afford to pay at the time,so our case continued with a vengence! I lost 2 jobs because I was repeatedly told I had to go to a compliance "hearing,"none of which ever determined him to be guilty(he NEVER had a trial!),with no notice, and told if I did not comply that my son would go to juvenile and a warrant would be issued for my arrest! It seemed as though I was going to court every week(especially since he has a problem with the justice court as well). This went on for about 8 months,my son on probation, having to be in by 6,but NEVER being lawfully convicted of any crime.

Then,in August, I dropped my son off to hang out with a friend during the day. I went to Baytown with a friend and my car broke down on the freeway. I immediately called my son at his friends' house to let him know that I would be late picking him up,because I did not know how long it would take. The court hearing was the next day and I was deathly worried that I would not be there for it. After getting a tow back to my apartment,I called my son again to see if he was ok,and see if he had a ride back to the apartment, since I could not find a way to pick him up that night. He said he did not,and I worried about it the whole night. The next morning,I called everyone I knew, starting at 7 in the morning to see if someone could pick up my son and take me to court, since we lived in Houston and the court was in Pearland.

There was no public transportation that ran by our apt.,and I had no family or friends who lived in Houston. I started walking in 100 degree weather trying to find someone, even a church to help me, but came up empty! I called the probation officer to tell her that I did not have a ride, but she just told me that I needed to find someone! I also explained the situation with my son and why he was at a friends' house, but I do not know if she actually told the court and judge the truth, because the constable called me wanting to know where I was and why I was not there, but my son was. That led me to believe that the probation officer did not even tell the judge what happened!

A warrant was later issued for my arrest, however I did not find this out until days later. I still desperately tried to find a ride for my son,who I now could not track down, because he did not return to the original house, nor did the original friend he was staying with know where he was! From then on,my daughter and I would find him,but he would disapppear again, never calling us or going to probation. It was agonizing for the next few weeks trying to locate him. The first day of his disappearance,I told the probation officer, and within a few days, she filed a directive. I also reported him as a runaway with the Brazoria County police dept. who treated me like aI did something wrong. We found a ride,my daughter's friend the next day, after court, but the problem was locating my son. So,we looked for him everyday,in the same neighborhood, asked people, gave out numbers for them to report what  they knew!

When my son finally turned himself in,the police brought him to my apt. blaming me,they said it was my fault for not picking him up,even though my car was STILL broke down! My son was arrested the day after labor day, after I brought him in to the probation debt.

When I went to court the next day,I was AGAIN blamed for not finding and picking up my son,and the judge would not let me talk or explain the situation. It was like some backward, kangaroo court, where the judge is only interested in HIS perseption of what happened, not what really happened. He wanted to know why he was not in school, even though he was missing for almost a month(school started AFTER my son disappeared) and I tried to enroll him when he got back, but he was arrested BEFORE I could get him in on the same day! The judge says he CARES so much about my son being in school, yet keeps him there for nearly a month(he's WAY behind in school in 10th grade!),so that he misses so much school,he may have to repeat!

Judge Holden continously scolds and belittles me for not being able to control my son,not being there for court, and not having him enrolled in school. He decides since my household is so unstable, that my son should be kept in detention! That doesnot even make since, since you can only visit for one hour on Sat.!

Something needs to be done about this judge, who refuses to listen to the truth, and decisions being handed down that don't even make sense! If someone or several people don't take a stand, nothing will ever be done about this corrupt court system that is ruining people's lifes! I was repeatly threatened with prison, and my son was treated unjustly,by being acccused of a crime, before actually being tried!
