In Feb of 2010 I joined Brenda Athletic Club of Merced CA. In Dec of 2010 I lost my job and and tried to cancel the membership but they wouldn't cancel itbecause I had to show proof I moved out of the area.

The first of Jan I moved out of state and showed them proof we moved. They still charged for January and said will still charge again for Feb.

I talked to Jen at 209-216-0116 to see if she would work with me in getting the charges taken off and to not charge for Feb. I explained to her I was just trying to put food on the table for my 3 boys. She would not work with me at all.

Do not everget aBrenda Athletic Club membership.

Hello,

First, I would like to start off by offering our apologies for any mis-communication there has been.
When you joined, you joined on a very inexpensive membership based on the length of the commitment you chose. We offer several different kinds of memberships, including one with out a one year or two year agreement. You chose the one with the cheapest monthly rate, but also (like cell phones and other services) offer a discount to customers when they commit to pay for a longer period of time. All of this is also explained on the membership agreement that you signed, initialed and dated when you joined. We also give our clients a copy of their agreement so they can use it as a reference if there are questions. It also states like with any other monthly billing plan, you must cancel with a 30 day notice. The person that you are referring too, is one of our billing representatives that must follow our company rules and policies, just like any other business. Had you not known about these policies, I could understand your feeling of being ripped off, however, you acknowledged, signed and dated the very policies which you are refuting so you were not ripped off. You chose to be in a longer commitment term to receive a much more affordable monthly rate. We understand your situation and did offer payment plans to help with your situation. If you would still like to do that and have us work with you, please contact us again. We would like to get this resolved for you.
