DOLLAR CAR RENTAL TAMPA (TPA) AIRPORT..

We booked out car rental through FunJet Vacations and the reservation was made and paid for a rental car to be picked up at the Dollar Rental Terminal in the Tampa Airport. Upon arrival at the rental counter the agent told me that I had to also buy insurance coverage on the rental car that I was to pick up. I provided the agent with a copy of my insurance card and advised that I carry rental car coverage on my auto policy and that I would not need the rental insurance they offered. I was instructed that in order to pick up this pre paid rental car that I would have to buy their insurance at a cost of over $200 additional due. I asked to speak with a supervisor and again was told the insurance coverage was mandatory and that I must buy it. I called to my travel agent who in turned called to Dollar Corporate office and again was told that insurance coverage is optional. The Dollar corporate agent also provide their name and telephone number for the agent in Tampa to contact should they have a problem with me not accepting to buy the additonal insurance. I sat for over 2 hours in the Tampa airport while the travel agent worked to get someone that could help with this. 

I do hope that this does not happen to other travelers. I have also contacted the local newspaper there in Tampa and spoke with Lisa Buie who is a writer on staff there to please look into this problem.
