I purchased my 2006 Kia Rio from Thrifty on October 19th 2008. The car was running fine for the first month and a half, then I was having problems with the car starting in the first week into Decemeber. I thought that maybe it was the battery, so I replaced the battery.

The problem continued and consistantly got worse until on December 21st I took the car to get gas and it died at the gas station. Since It was late I could not have the car towed to Thrifty so I had to towed back to my house.

On December 22nd I called Thrifty and let them know the problem and they said that they could not look at the car for a few weeks because they were booked solid. This should have been my first clue that the cars they sell are not reliable. So I contacted my local Kia dealer. They said they had an opening and they came and picked up my car and towed it to their dealer.

After a week I hadn't heard anything about my car and it's diagnosis, so I contacted John in the repair department. He told me that there is an electrical problem with my car due to an accident. Since I have not been in any accidents, my car must have been in one prior to me purchasing it, and this information was not disclosed to me at the time of purchase.

To my dismay he told me that the warranty on my Kia was void due to the accident and would cost me at least $220 just to further diagnose the problem to find out exactly where it stems from. He asked me to have Paul or Mike from Thrifty to call him so he could let them know about the problem.

After many attempts I finally got through to Mike (one of the Managers) at Thrifty on December 29th. He kept telling me that the car is under warranty and became very defiante in trying to help me with my problem. I told him that John at Kia would like to explain everything to him, and gave Mike his number. Mike said that he would call me right back. I keep trying to contact Mike or Paul at Thrifty and have no luck with them calling me back. I have even tried emailing them to see if either of them has actually called John at Kia. I have found out that since I purchased my car John and Mike no longer work at the Mesa lot. They now work at the Gilber lot and should be able to be reached at 480-355-1900.

I am at my wits end and don't know what else to do. I can not afford the costs to fix my car and do not feel as if I should have to cover all expenses to pay for the problem since it stems from an accident prior to me purchasing the car.

Please help...I was a very trusting person and thought that the Kia was a good deal since it was only 2 yrs old and had 43,000 miles on it. I will no longer trust a car dealer again! Bad things always happen to good people.

Don't let them do this! Go to the Attorney General or BBB if you feel you have been wrongfully done. Thriftys cannot continue to take advantage of people.
