Budget Car Rental ripoff billing, Charged 6.99 gallon of gas Orlando Florida
*Consumer Suggestion: Should have refilled it yourself at a gas station.
*Consumer Suggestion: Call their national headquarters
rented a car, agreed to buy Gas from budget. returned the car next day. they told me you have to pay $48.45. i was shocked.coz on the reservation i made online it stated @21.00. he explained to me there was unfixable mistake. which is if i agreed to pay gas then i have to pay for the full tank! since i refused to pay for the full tank. coz i drove about 80 miles. which equal 3 gallons. anyways they charged me for 4 gallons 6.99/gallon. that was not expalained to me first day. then i talked to the manager. he said no solution.
i could stop at any Gas Station and fill the 3 gallons for &2.76/gallon.
That was misleading and dis-honesty.

Should have refilled it yourself at a gas station.

When you received the car, it was full. The next renter expects it to be full. You just needed to fill up the car right before returning it, and they wouldn't have charged you.
You have two choices at the time of rental. You can prepay for a full tank, or not.
If you prepay, the price per gallon is lower than gas stations charge, BUT they don't give you any credit for gas remaining. You have to use the whole tank and return the car empty for this to make sense.
If you don't prepay, then you should return the car with a full tank. Or they will fill it for you, at a hefty price per gallon. That price is clearly shown on a sign behind the rental counter, and should have been explained to you by the agent when you were about to sign the contract.

Call their national headquarters

Rental car companies are trying to become more and more slick to make their revenue goals in declining car rental times..
Contact their national reservation center and explain the issue. I had the same issue before and they agreed to remove charges as a courtesy.. You should tell them to keep the $2.76 a gallon charges on there, but give prorated credit for 4.23 (difference between 6.99 and 2.76)
If that does not work, contact one of their executives.
