Buffetfinance scammed my mom Internet

So my Mum (61) has been saving diligently for decades and was 1-2 years away from having enough to get a nice house to settle into without needing a mortgage.

Enter an investment scam company called Buffets Finance...

In the space of 2 months, they managed to fleece my mum of 140,000 AUD. All sent via Bitcoin and used to

"trade" on their online web trader.

It started as any typical scam. She could remove money easily, started seeing small profits that got bigger and bigger, and before she knew it, she was up 20k in profit.

This was enough to convince her to invest an extra 120k on their instruction (on top of the 20k she already put in).

Thankfully, their website went down for a couple of days which got her worried enough to call me. I recognised the scam right away and despite her getting access to her account again and thinking it was ok, l've helped her reconcile with the fact that she's lost the money.

She has now requested her money back under the guise that she has put what she had left down as a deposit on a house and wants the rest but they've of course switched to the "well if you want your money back you have to pay us the tax first" bullshit.

We reported it to the authorities  and  an asset recovery company ( cipher-restore.com) who tracked the funds to a wallet on an exchange with KYC, and helped get the asset back. 

It was such a joy to behold when I saw my mom smile again. 

Most of these investment schemes are not worth the stress they put people through.
