Debt Collector, Art (((Rip-off REDACTED))), from Caine & Weiner, called my home and left a message on my voice recorder. He did not say that he was calling in an attempt to collect a debt. He also implied that he was an attorney calling about a lawsuit filed against me (which was untrue).

Both of these actions violate the Federal Fair Debt Act and the Illinois Fair Debt Act.

breaking the fdcpa

AUTHOR: Don - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 10, 2006

YEs, they broke the FDCPA if they implied they are an attorney. But when leaving a message, they legally can not mention that the message is about a debt collection. The reason for that, is that they can not legally inform other people of your debt.

Teri...Still got that message on tape?

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 09, 2006

If so, file a lawsuit for FDCPA violations ASAP!

It is a slam dunk! Money in the bank!

AND, since they are "lawyers", be sure to file the written complaint with the BAR ASSOCIATION.

Don't let them get away with it!
