On January 26, 2003, I received a phone call from a gentleman with a Jamaican accent. He advised me that I owed Camco, who I had never heard of, $1900.00 from a debt, he said I owed, from 1986! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I knew that this had to be a mistake.
This man, who I could barely understand said that he had my social security number and threatened to report this to the credit bureaus. This, my friends, is not only fraud but extortion as well. Protect yourselves!

Madolyn,
This company buys "out-of-statute" debts (debts more that 7-years old). Even if you do own this debt they have little recourse. Simply reply to them that you are disputing the debt and include a cease-and-desist letter. That will stop them from contacting you.
