Our dogs have stayed at Canine Companions on two different occasions. Never again, though. The first time we left them there we had no major complaints, but were a little concerned they were understaffed with all the dogs they kennel. We were staying in a hotel in town while we moved so we were able to go check on the dogs from time to time and this may have kept the CC staff on there toes a little in caring for our dogs. However, when we went to pick them up, one of our dogs was soaking wet. They said they had given her a bath and their blowdryer broke. ??? The last time our dogs stayed there, we were out of town for about a week. I requested one of the kennels with the outdoor patio (at an additional cost) because one of our dog drinks a lot of water and needs to pee more often and they said that having the patio would allow her to go whenever she wanted. When I dropped them off, I asked to walk back with them to see the dogs accommodations. I was a little suspicious when they told me that their space wasn't ready yet. (Are they overbooking the upgraded spaces and charging people for add-ons that aren't actually provided?) When I picked our dogs up, the one that drinks a lot appeared to have been laying in her own urine for some time. Her coat was wet and matted and reeked of pee. Did she really stay in a unit with an outdoor patio? Who knows. Even worse, both dogs appeared kind of dazed and lethargic and when we got home they both vomited and had diarrhea. Neither ate for two days, but recovered over the next week. My impression is that the owner of this kennel is overly profit-oriented, at the expense of the dogs. Although the staff is friendly and seem to be dog-lovers, they are obviously overworked. Too many dogs not enough caring staff! Also, no grass. The outdoor areas for the dogs are all concrete, as far as I can tell.
