Have been trying to get a good carburetor from this business since Nov. 2002. First carb had a pronounced dead spot on acceleration, and at the companies request I sent it back in the core return box for adjustment. Came back too rich. Missed my window for returning the core, but was told if I sent it in I would get half of the $75.00 they charged. Never got it.

The second carb was diagnosed by a local ASE certified mechanic as defective, after $100.00 of troubleshooting. The third and fourth have both arrived with missing/improper components. Appearance wise, they've all seemed kind of beat up.

The staff here is horrible, with NO concept of customer service what-so-ever. The manager talks to you like you're a kid. They are rude and arrogant. The Better Business Bureau gives these guys an unsatisfactory rating. Check it out.

Funny thing is, they're a sponsored link! Buyer Beware!

I just want my money back, but they have a lame "no-refund" policy and won't deliver. When I ordered the carb, the homepage of the website said "customer satisfaction guaranteed" and each carb comes with a five-year warranty. None of it is worth a dime if the company and product turns out garbage.

Save yourself a LOT of trouble. Buy your carb locally. Internet buying of auto parts has been, for me, an absolute nightmare.

Unbelievable not a real consumer BEWARE!!!

AUTHOR: Vince - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, March 05, 2010

First I do not believe you are a real consumer only an employ or friend of the carburetor exchange because history has proven this is not the way they run their business in the past. You did not respond with a name! Second If they are willing to spend so much lobor on you for your truck the very least they can do is pay for the work done on a defective carb bought out of reach of their shop or state. Their time is worth something and time is money so they could help with an out of state expence on one of their defective carbs especially is it is rare which I dont believe it is that they send out bad parts often I am sure. Over all like I said these people are less than professional they dont answer calls or emails and the product is substandard I WARN  any one with the highest level of warning BEWARE OF LYNN AND PAUL AT  THE CARBURETOR EXCHANGE 8546 W. March 3, 2010 warranty

AUTHOR: AZK5 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, March 04, 2010

Bought my quadrajet here in Oct 2008. It worked great until a couple weeks ago but theit developed a few issues. Called the company and found out they have a lifetime warranty on carbs purchased from them. Took it there yesterday to drop it off but to my surprise the owner began to clean and repair the carb immediately.

After he finished he asked if the truck I drove to his shop was the one the carb went to. When I told him it was he offered to install the carb for me. I accepted his offer.

Not only did he install and adjust the carb, he replaced the manifold gasket and some fuel hose. We test drove the truck and it was flawless. Back at the shop I offered to pay for the parts but he refused payment. Excellent work, friendly people, skilled mechanics.

I never comment on these types of sites but could not help but respond to the above comments. I do agree with one item from richard salem. If you do not know how to tune a carb, you should buy it locally. Do not expect someone 1000 miles away to tune it to your vehicle.

Update Information

AUTHOR: Carburetor Exchange - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 10, 2008

This report was just called to my attention over the weekend by a customer who
saw it online. There should be a couple of things noted here.
1. The Carburetor Exchange in Phoenix, Arizona did not come into existance until February of 2004. The Carburetor Exchange was never affilliated with Superior Carburetor. Superior Carburetor was owned and operated by a completely different entity in the same location and this is probably why we are being lumped together. The Carburetor Exchange apparently has tried to help this person and has not been able to satisfy the need for a refund because we never collected any
money from this person, Superior Carburetor did. The Carburetor Exchange does not have any $75.00 core charges, offers a lifetime warranty which we strive very diligently to honor and our refund policy is in place for those people who have actually purchased merchandise from the Carburetor Exchange.

2. We are not a member of the Better Business Bureau and therefore have no profile on file with them. We do not pay any fees to the Better Business Bureau for the use of the system.

We suggest that if this customer wishes to continue to complain about the service he was given he should confine his complaint to Superior Carburetor, as according to the dates given in his filing he has never paid any monies to the Carburetor Exchange in Phoenix, Arizona.
Thank you for the opportunity to clarify this matter.

Terrible experience with Carburetor Exchange (carburetorexchange.com, 888-233-2345, Pheonix, AZ)

AUTHOR: Paul Marino - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 26, 2008

I'm glad to see someone else reported a complaint about this company. I ordered a carbutor in early May. I needed my vehicle ready to go by the end of the month for an out of state job--no big deal, plenty of time. First, they send the carburetor to the wrong address. Instead of "Carl St.," they send it to "Oar St." Where they came up with this street name I do not know. I went way out my way to pick it up at the UPS center myself. I get it home--it's the wrong model.

It's been two weeks already, and I wish I had just paid the extra money to get one reliably through an Auto Parts store. The guy Miguel insists if I get him the model number off my carburetor, they will get me the correct one. Since they won't return the shipping costs either way, I agree, and give it a second chance. I spell out "Carl St." for him. They are in no hurry to get me my carburetor. A week later I call and they say it is supposed to be shipped out the next day, that they will call me. They never call. By the beginning of the next week, it's still not on it's way. I get on the phone with a manager and explain that my time has run out, that I need the carburetor ASAP, and that I have run out of options. He agrees to ship it to me 2-day delivery.

I Now I am anxious because it is the end of the month. I spend the afternoon waiting for UPS. Turns out they sent it "Oar St." again! UPS has sent it back to the shipper because there is no such place in the city as Oar St. I am passed furious and completely out of options. I spend another day on the phone, demanding my situation. The woman there is makes a strong last minute effort to get me the carb. I threaten to take them to small claims court for any difference in costs should I need to have a carburator rebuild over the weekend, say, at whatever costs necessary. I am treated like I am being tempermental or impossible, and even hung up on! This lady, to her credit, makes sure I get the thing the next day, a completely different carb (that means they build three carburators to complete my one order, talk about inefficient). I get it--It's the right model but it's built incorrectly. I had to siwtch parts off my old carburetor to make it works. The one they sent me had to output to the engine! But I made it work, though the idle sticks and runs a high RPM when I decelerate or press the cluth. Worst service experience I have ever had in my life. Absurd. Best of all, just this week (a month and a half after my order) I find a $45 charge on my bank report from Carb Exchange. I called and they said it was some kind of mistake, and they would refund the money. Hasn't happened yet.

Spread the word--Don't buy carburators from this company. Pay the extra $100 and get one from a reliable source.

#6 UPDATE EX-employee responds

i was the local technitian and tried to help

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 11, 2003

i just walked away from carburetor shop . i was the local technitian and tried to help the people of the world deal with there drivability problems. the basic problem that carb shop has is no experience. there are a whole bunch of illeagal or shall i say may have papers. may.they ultimately run the company. all of them together wouldnt make a pimple on a real mechanics a*s. those immigrants picked on me sabatoged what i was working on etc. till i blew up and beat the hell out of one of em.(sounds like a true american huh?)me.an american.out of a job.the only one w a history of automotive experience. hands on. i.ve built carbs(not every day)since i was 16 and i have never seen such a failure rate.i will say on their behalf that its a tough business.allot of pressure constantly.and they actually do quite well with who they have on the bench.they dont understand that some of these carbs have been rebuilt so much the bodies are no good anymore.you start putting warped parts from one carb to thewarped parts of another you have compound problems.put someone to building these that dont know squat about the physics of an automobile and it just makes an inferior product.

For some unknown reason, I have been unable to update my first report, so I'm doing it this way. I can't let this rebuttal go without a response.

What is your definition of customer service/satisfaction? Thats what this argument is really all about. What Eric isnt telling you is that weve spent almost six weeks shipping the last two carburetors back and forth because they cant seem to send me the right one for my truck!

When I ordered my carburetor from this company last November, the website said that each unit comes with a five year warranty, and stated customer satisfaction guaranteed. Sounded pretty good to me, and like a safe bet. Figured that the company would be very customer service oriented with a great product.

What would you have expected? Does customer satisfaction guaranteed mean, let me ship you two carburetors for your vehicle that arent even the right ones, and expect for you NOT to complain and want your money back? According to Eric, it does. Ill be happy to waste another week and a half of your time while we hopefully ship you the correct unit just doesnt fly in my book. And neither does Erics definition of customer satisfaction guaranteed.

In his own words: it means the customers that have used our product have been satisfied overwhelmingly." That's what customer satisfaction guaranteed means to this business. Okey-dokey.

Customer satisfaction guaranteed, Mr. Eric English, means your business REALLY has its act together, and is committed to making your customers happy. It doesnt equate to four carburetors over eight months, two of which were diagnosed by an ASE certified shop at having something wrong, and the other two werent even the right ones for the vehicle. It doesnt equate making a customer feel so helpless and trapped that he has to consult an attorney. It doesnt mean arguing with a customer, especially, for goodness sake, over the Internet! It means: THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. Ive been in business myself; so dont try to tell me what it means.

So what it comes down to is this. They made a quality commitment, and due to a lack of quality, had to take it back when they were called on it. Customer satisfaction guaranteed was pulled off the website in May 2003 because, according to Mr. English, too many people had their own interpretation of what that meant. My interpretation, apparently.

And possibly, the interpretation of some of the folks who have filed complaints against this business with the Better Business Bureau. Who sounds out of line to you?

Not Every Customer Can Be Satisfied

AUTHOR: Erci - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 01, 2003

Not every customer can be satisfied and we all know that. Everyone has their own idea of Utopia, we know that.

We do admit that the product that was sent to customer had issues, we did repair and are still offering to repair/exchange. Are we responsible for the customer taking over a month each time that there seems to be a problem?

Customer service - we do what we can to satisfy the customer, but again you can't satisfy all, and there are some customers who have their own definition of customer service, and I will not be walked on.

Regarding the BBB - Since the date that I have started, I have attempted to have our name cleared. I have instilled a new idea to customer service. However the BBB refuses to acknowledge the differences between the new owners and the previous owners. Also, it seems that if you "join" the BBB, your name is "Always" good!, only the companies that don't pay dues to the BBB are "bad"

Yes we have a no refund policy - customers often will purchase an item from us thinking that they need a carburetor, but find that it didn't solve their problems. They then want to return the product and expect a full refund. We do not sell our product for testing and/or trial purposes.

My name is Eric and I am the General Manager of Carburetor Shop, I have been in the automotive parts and service industry for over 18 years. I have years of experience, dedicated to customer service, but I will not be trampled upon!
