My family is scheduled to cruise on the Holiday cruise ship from Carnival Cruise Lines in November. My daughter is unable to go because of her new job so I wanted to pay the name change fee and bring someone else. I was told no. Travelocity told me that Carnival would not allow it. I called Carnival and was told they would not speak to me because I booked through Travelocity and I needed to talk to them.
I was told by Travelocity that I was booked in a "group" as all their promotions are and therefore unable to make a change. No one ever told me I was booked in a group and I did not find out until I tried to enter my reservation number into the Carnival website to pre-register online and kept receiving an error message. Nowhere in my 8 pages of rules does it say you are unable to make a name change as part of a group.
I was then told it was not because I am part of a group but that the ship is now full so I cannot make a change. What is the difference if I am swapping out one person for another? I need help because my trip is in one month!

When booking a cruise you really need to know the rules.

When you book and the date is not set in stone, get booking insurance. That way you can cancel. Research rates. I'll bet you got ripped off bigtime there. I usually take cruises that cost others $600.00, they cost me 399.00. How? most of the time I book directly with carnival. It is easy and fast but they can offer you discounts that most people can't. For instance, I took a cruise last year...7 days out of Galveston. Cost me $199.99 for my husband and myself. We used our UPS employee discount. You will be surprised what you can get. Try vacationstogo.com They have super deals and lots of cruise line to choose from. I have 6 children so I am the queen of bargins. They are out there you just have to know where to look. And look you must because they are not advertised. Always ask for discounts. If you are told no, you haven't lost anything.

this also happened to me

The exact same thing happened to me. I booked a carnival cruise through Travelocity 6 months prior to the cruise. a few months before the cruise, my work schedule changed and i called carnival to find out if we could take the same cruise a week earlier. carnival would not speak with me since i booked through travelocity. travelocity told me that they were unable to make changes without the consent of carnival. USE THREE WAY CALLING. Since everyone told me they couldn't do anything without contacting the other party, i put a carnival customer service agent on hold while i dialed travelocity and connected them so that we could all speak together.
