A buyer recently used Carol Ives/Carol Diva Services to try to refund an authentic bag. She states in an email that, she would not consider the bag to be authentic due to sizing and the look of the emblem based on photos. Below her email, she has a disclaimer that states "The opinion rendered herein are based on the authenticator's personal knowledge" and that there is a possibility of less than "one percent" that she erred. Next time, ask her for her statistics. What are the raw numbers?

I really question her services, as she has not worked at any of the luxurious brand name stores, nor was she apart of the design, operation, production of any of these bags. I have never heard of her until this buyer printed her email. When I looked her up, I found she charges $7.00 per "authentication." The authentication was on email and appeared to be very unprofessional. I don't think she has catalog or catalogs, databases or works at these stores. Her service for this particular transaction was based on low-res digital photos, and not the physical handbag (as she didn't get to feel the fabric, feel the embossed logos and nameplate, the engraved branding, the embossed lining, and specialized "Lampo" zippers.

Her conclusion was incorrect. Today, I went to the flagship store to get some maintenance. They handed me an invoice printed by the manufacturer. They would not invoice a counterfeit bag. I will be filing a complaint against her with the Better Business Bureau.

I agree with this other rip-off report:

Also, how is Carol Diva's services weighted heavier than this site?

http://www.ebay.com/gds/The-Complete-Guide-On-How-To-Authenticate-Prada-Purses-/10000000175851920/g.html

If you want to authenticate your purse, please go to the flagship store and ask for maintenance so you can get an authenticated invoice. Please don't give your money to these fraudulent unemployed people. They have no expertise, no design skills, don't understand typography, or craftmanship. Apparently, Carol Diva/Carol Ives has changed her name from:

Carol IVES MY POUPETTE Angie HOUSTON to Carol Diva/Carol Ives/ Pinsian LLC

Note: LLC is a Limited Liability Company so if she gets sued, she is not liable.

"Just an opinion”

AUTHOR: Anne - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 04, 2019

The rebuttal admits to just an opinion versus fact. I submitted photos of my receipt (redacted). Shortly after I received my receipt, I was able to sell this purse right away. Don’t ever take your purse or artifact to a third-party repairer. The design shops will void and won’t repair your purse.

Prada took a long time (almost 2 months). I paid just $65 for the repair. If it is real, they will repair it. If it is fake, they won’t. Also, these design houses have every record of every artfiact they made versus these authenticators. If they had access to these databases then I could see how they would be valued but I doubt they don’t.

Why pay for these services when you could get an original receipt from the store via repair? Don’t use a middle man/woman, go to the direct source.

Carol Ives: thoughts from an eBay, Poshmark, Tradesy Seller who's used her services

AUTHOR: Lindsay - (United States)

POSTED: Monday, June 03, 2019

I was really surprised to read the negative reviews on Carol Ives (dba: Carol Diva).  I have been top rated eBay seller, Tradesy, Poshmark.. etc.. for almost 20 years with 7 figures in sales...   and have always been impressed by Carol's work from when she was still part of the "My Poupette" authentication team.  Carol's one of the original on-line authenticators and is well known as a professional in her field.

Carol is really discriminating in her brand critiques which, if anything, would make her overly critical and cautious of the bag or item in question.  I have used her services when I've been confronted with challenging authentications. Example: Louis Vuitton vintage bags (The French Company) trunks (pre-date code items)  .. Vintage CHANEL pre-hologram serial codes, Hermes Birkins, etc... usually items over $5000 in value.   I am certain that I paid upwards of $50/authentication ++ HOWEVER:

In EVERY case, the paperwork she provided back was thorough citing date context for everything including:

an in-depth critique of the leather, stitch trim, inside lining, hardware details, monogram pattern/alignment, d-rings, etc, font adjustments  (example: LV has made many different subtle font changes with their date code stamps and other details): Carol highlights the historical details for the bags and how it falls w/i that context. She can pick out the tiniest detail identifying that the tail on the L is too short, the O's are overly round and look bigger than the L, the T's are almost touching each other or are so close that it looks like it.

Bottom line is that even Louis Vuitton CS representatives will never authenticate for you.   For every negative review on this site, there are 100,000 positives.

I can only issue my opinion which ... by the way, wasn't solicited from Carol Ives, and that is to take these reviews with a grain of salt.

Unfortunately, people are quick to write a negative review on Ripoff report but less apt to publish the postiive experiences ...

Check out the good stuff about Carol and form your own opinion.  She's the real deal, is thorough, intelligent and a true LV historian.
