Bought a Neon 2 years ago from them. Our credit sucked but we needed a car so badly we were willing to take whomever would be willing to finance us. We also were new car buyers and didn't know a thing about buying a car. Carriage was the only car dealership that actually told us they had financing for people like us...

I fell in love with the car. Going from a 91 civic to a 96 neon seemed great. We overpayed by $3000 (our fault since we didn't look more into cars and car buying.) A few weeks later when we tried to get the emissions done to get the tag it wouldn't pass!!!!! Since we signed an "AS-IS" contract we couldn't take it back to the dealership and since we had to come up with a very LARGE downpayment we didn't have the money to have it fixed right away. So we had to drive on a bad tag a month after it expired. Got a ticket the exact same day that we finally had the car fixed and passed emissions!!!!! What luck!

Also, when we first got the car the back floorboard was wet. We assumed they must have cleaned it with something and it was still drying so we didn't ask or say anything about it. Turns out every time it rained the trunk flooded and it spilled into the floorboards of the car. They didn't tell us about this! The next year after we had bought the car emissions came up again...didn't pass again.

We are totally stupid people. We still have bad credit so when we were looking to buy another car we turned once again to Carriage. We thought that maybe we just happened to have gotten a car that was manufactured with all these defects...

Fell in love with a 98 malibu. I have always wanted one and blindly signed the contract. We overpaid by $7,000. Should have learned the first time about negotiating but we didn't. (With a 28% interest rate to boot.) Car drove wonderfully. It was the top of the line model with a few extras. But before we even got our new tag to replace the temporary tag the altenator went out. I was told that the dealership would have known that it was going out when they do they check-up before they even up it out on the lot. Guess they just missed out on that part. Cost us $200 to replace the part. Since then the car has been wonderful. The battery was a little leaky when we got it, but has since been replaced.

Also on the Malibu. I had to go back the next day after we bought it to have a GPS put it. The 15 minutes they said it would take turned into 1 1/2 hours.

Hopefully our next car purchase will be a better one. Maybe I have learned my lesson thru two bad ones thru the same dealership. Stay away from buying used cars at Carriage.

This hurts.......

No one needs a lawyer to buy a car. Just be careful of what you are getting in to. Always read what you sign. Never, ever take the salesmans word for anything. This goes for anything you buy. Nothing that Carriage did was bad. They made an offer. You accepted. Simple as that. How can you make a $10,000 mistake over two cars?

It is a good idea to take your lawyer with you, if you decide to buy a car from carriage. I especially like the part where they hand you papers face down, like the As-Is warrenty, so you can sign the back.
