Carsource USA Took 6 weeks to pay off trade-in Burbank, Illinois
*Consumer Comment: Why did you let someone else ruin your credit?

Took them almost 2 months to pay off the vehicle I traded in. I think they were waiting until they sold it and needed the title. Meanwhile, the payments were going unmade and my credit report was being affected. Numerous times they promised they had sent the check when they had not. Would never buy from them again.

Why did you let someone else ruin your credit?

It's a very old scam that some of the dealerships use - they don't pay off the vehicle in time and they suffer no consequences at all. You get hit with late payments on your credit report and they claim X was fired. It's a game for some of these dealerships. A game that is bad for you and bad for your credit.
Those late payments will damage your credit for 7.5 years. When you go to finance anything else, you will have a higher interest rate to pay because of the late payments.
The solution? In the future, don't trade a vehicle that has remaining payments on it. Sell your vehicle before you purchase something else. Separate the selling transaction from the purchase transaction. You will make more money that way anyway and have less chance of getting hurt on either the purchase or the sale.
In the meantime, you might be able to sue the dealership for damages for ruining your credit. A 60 day late pay is a very serious derogatory on your credit.

To be fair to the company, I want to mention that I had no problems with the car I purchased. It was everything they said it was. Also, the problems with the loan payoff could have been the fault of the sales manager, who was fired a couple of months after I purchased my car.
