Castle Point Mortgage is a treacherous snake-in-the-grass mortgage broker, who will promise you certain terms, and then switch the terms at the closing table, so "BEWARE". I would advise any person to steer clear of this firm. I have read all of the complaints on this forum "rip-off", and they all are accurate. I was promised two 6.5% fixed rate loans. A fly-by-night guy showed up at my kitchen table, and "bam" they switched the terms on me without any notification. When I got my first monthly statements, I tried to talk with someone, and at first they would not answer my calls or even return my messages. When I did talk to a manager named Chad, he just shrugged me off. My loan processor "Marcus", was very cunning, and I never would believe that he was going to do what he did. I fell for the old "bait and switch trick". Don't you fall for it too. Warn all family members and friends to "caveat emptor" "BEWARE".

What probably happened

AUTHOR: Derrick - (U.S.A.)

More than likely, what happened to this guy was that he was pre-approved under the assumption that he was being upfront and honest about all of the information he provided. What he apparently was unaware of is that mortgage companies are actually required to verify all of the information given and can't take a prospective borrower's word for it! Big surprise.

You see this all too often when people are under the impression that their situation is better than what it really is. It's that age old thing of thinking you can get something for nothing and usually it leaves a bad taste in the person mouth. I obviously don't know the particulars as to whether or not this person was actually alerted as to any changes along the way but I'd be willing to bet you that he was. I worked in the industry for 15 years for some major powers and this is usually the case when someone says this about a direct lender, which is what Castle Point is, and nowhere near being a broker. Sorry buddy but eventually we all have to wise up and accept our situations for what they are and take the necessary steps to correct them
