I have been a freelance contractor for many years, and I always love to work with Americans and Australians. I never had issues working for an American client, because I always thought they are the best people to deal with.

I felt so heartened that an American ripped me off online. My country's currency and economic status is totally nothing compared to them.

I worked for Cautivadora.com for almost a month. And I always had issues with payment. It took two weeks for me to get my first payment via PayPal, and I never got any payment anymore for the rest, till the contract was ended.

For how many weeks that I have been chasing them for the money I worked for 10hrs a day, 7 days a week. When I started to realize that they would never pay me, I badly wanted to let them go, but I was so tied up with all the bills I had and apartment rental check.

I tried to talk to them several times, explaining them my current situation. I work at home for a living, and I am expecting for my salary from them to pay my apartment, or else I would be evicted with bank charges.

They would keep giving me promises that they would pay "today", "tomorrow", "this time", "this date".

I almost pity myself begging them for that payment I worked hard for, but they never paid me until they stop responding to my emails anymore.

I don't have any other means to contact them, except for emails. And their company's CS hotline is always not available.

Days and weeks passed, and I decided to let them go. It left me a lot of problems and tough situation. I am a Catholic and I still believe in goodness. I decided to just move on and accepted that I was ripped-off and tried to start over again. God has been so good to me that I was able to get new clients - decent clients.

Until yesterday, I received a Chargeback case from them for the payment they gave for my first week of work.

I talked to PayPal, thought about it several times. And I was like - What's wrong with Janeen Jones of Cautivadora.com.

My PayPal account is now in negative balance with an amount that is no joke in my country. If only I have enough right now, I would just forget it and pay the negative balance and move on. But I think what she's doing is already too much. I have been quiet for more than a month, I never posted anything against them, despite of the things that I had to go through because of them.

She claims in her credit card company that the payment was not authorized, while I have a copy of the email she sent me when she confirmed that she sent me the payment.

I sent it to PayPal -written document with her name and email address - with this message below:

This payment is not an unauthorized payment. Janeen Jones of Cautivadora.com was my client. I used to work for them homebased as a CSR via Elance. I have the copy of the Elance Contract.

After 1 week of working with them, their Client Account in Elance got suspended due to payment issue. I already had an instinct that I would have a problem with this client that time. Janeen Jones told me that she would pay me outside Elance, either via PayPal or Western Union. I have a copy of the email.

I preferred PayPal, because it would be faster. I created a PayPal Money Request and sent to her email address, same email address that she's using when she sends me email. I forwarded the email notification I received from PayPal to her and she replied confirming that she paid it. I also have a copy of that email thread.

I waited for that payment for almost 2 weeks. It was a payment for my work. After that payment received. She told me that her company would have to renew my contract and I would start working outside Elance, 10 hours/day 6days/week.

I continued working with them, though I was already worried about getting paid. And I was not wrong. This payment she filed for chargeback and claim was the last payment I received from them.

I never received any payment from them anymore. Same with the other homebased CSR, who worked for them.

I sent them numerous emails asking for my payment, but they didn't pay me. I have a copy of those emails.

I also sent them numerous payment requests, but they never paid anymore.

This company has been a real pain to me. They still owe me money for the service I worked. I let it go, for God's sake, but they are still wanting to get more money from people.

I even reported them to Elance, and disputed the hours they didn't pay me.

For all other freelancers like me, be careful with clients you work with. Appreciate and value those long-term clients you already have right now. For people like Janeen Jones and for companys like Cautivadora.com - Filipinos are very hardworking people, very resourceful, and they wouldn't charge you high. I feel saddened that most of the Filipino homebased workers nowadays are getting paid as low as $2.22 USD per hour.

To let everyone knows, the cost of living in the Philippines is not cheap. And the $2.22 USD per hour even with a full-time job, will not compensate our electric and internet bills every month. If we couldn't get the pay we deserve, at least don't abuse us.

Cautivadora is a Scam

AUTHOR: Natalee - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, July 30, 2013

I, too, paid for a voucher through Livingsocial.com for an item sold through Cautivadora and after several inquiries into the staust of my order and no reponse, I stopped payment to both Livingsocial.com and Cautivadora. It's a scam and Livingsocial.com should be ashamed for representing an awfful company.
