I was in for sceduled maintenance on another vehicle when I was approached by a salesman named Sean P. I told him I was not currently in the market for a car. I told him in the future we might like to get small truck. He asked why a small truck. When I told him, he said, "what about a small car. We got a screaming deal going on this little beauty." A used 2004 model, with extremely low miles. The window sticker said the blue book on this car was $13,000, they were asking 10,000. Said if I bought this car from any other dealer, I would pay $16,000, that I could drive it off his lot and go trade it in for 13,000 at any other dealer. Said, "I was a fool for not taking the deal." After we got the car home we found out that the real blue book was $9,350. I said no room for my tools. He opened the trunk and asked, you can't fit your tools in here. I said I might be able to.

He insisted on showing us the engine, then a test drive. I didn't want to, he said come on, what else have you got to do while ya wait? When we got back,I told him I wasn't interested. When he asked why I told him, "For starters my credit is shot from being out of work for six months, I've been late with house payments, had a bankruptcy, and have a collections dispute going on as we speak. We are barely catching up as it is. He Said, let me run a credit check and just see. Then you can see where your credit stands, that wouldn't hurt would it? I agreed it wouldn't. He took some information and put in a credit application on my behalf. He came back and said, "congratulations your credit is fine. You got the loan. You want to buy the car." I said no, I can't afford it. He said, What if I can make it affordable? I told him I didn't think he could. Wanted to know if I thought I could afford $200 per month.

I said at the max. He assured me he could get the payments below $200 per month. I told him I wanted to talk to my girlfriend. They tried to shame me. "you have to ask your girlfriend??" I said yes. They wanted to know where she was. I said waiting for me to pick her up from work. Wanted me to take the car and go get her. Since my truck was done I told them I would go get her in it. We argued several minutes, I told them I would go get her in my truck and be back. Being a person of his word I came back. They started to play her too. She told them it sounded like a great deal, we'ld like to go home and think about it. He said, "What's to think about, it's a fool's fool deal. We're foolish to offer it, your foolish not to take it. You're an idiot if you need to think about it. It's a $13,000 car, you're getting if for $10,000, payments under $200 per month what's to think about. I work 60 miles from home, my son is 2 miles from school and has to walk, and my girlfriend works a mile away and has to walk. We have need of another car, so we decided to take the deal. We were taken back to a poorly lit room and introduced to their financial manager Ryan L. and the real screwing over commenced. He said, the car was under manufactures warranty and therefore they weren't givig any warranty, had me sign a paper acknowledging this. The paper said, "as is, no warranty".

Window sticker said factory warranty. We still don't know abuot that one. Said we could get an extended warranty and had three plans to choose from. I said we were trying to keep the payments down and didn't want any. He said,"OK, just sign the paper here to acknowledge that and I'll take care of it." Turns out I signed us up for the mid level, $2000.00 plan, as he had already filled out the paper. Gap insurance went exactly the same way for another $300. Might have been the only good thing he did for us. We were charged extra for "etched glass", and possibly for "perma coat". It is hard to tell because a lot of the numbers entered on contracts are mis-aligned, printed over other printing making the whole thing hard to read even in good light. Three days later we were able to get back to talk to the finacial manager about the price being inflated from the $10,000 marked on the car and agreed upon to $10,600 that he put on the contract, he grinned and told me that he didn't negotiate any prices with me. When I asked him why I was being charged $2000.00 for an extended warranty we specifically told him we didn't want, he reminded me that I should have read what I was signing instead of taking his word for it. Since it had been only three business days, we told them we were returning the car. He said we couldn't, they would have it towed to our house and charge us whatever they want. Since they were wanting pay stubs, letters from employers, etc. I told him they hadn't got the loan yet and therefore I hadn't bought the car yet.

He assured me that I had, and that I couldn't return the car unless they couldn't get financing, and if that happened they would charge $50 per day and .75 per mile once they got the car back. Not knowing what to do and not wanting to get a $500 tow bill we brought the car back home. Did I mention the engine light? When I asked them about it, they said the gas cap was loose. When tightening the cap didn't fix it they said bring it in Monday and they'll fix it. They got the light to stay off for almost 24 hours. Since then it has gone on and off and we haven't touched the gas cap . Now we have a $9,350 car that is going to cost over $19,000, with payments of $267 per month. Though Sean said our first payment wouldn't be until February, our first payment is due January 3rd. So much for Christmas. We have reported this company to the mountain states BBB. Turns out we are not the first, and they don't have a favorable listing with them as there are unresolved disputes and unanswered complaints.
