I sold a car to a business today and they paid me with a check drawn on Chase Bank in Champaign, IL. When I went there to cash it because I was on my way to college and my bank was a half hour round trip from where I was at. When I cashed it, Chase told me that there would be a six dollar fee to cash it, even though the check was drawn on their bank. Do not forget that chase bank was one of the banks that took bailout money from the taxpayers. They are just another example of the greedy, politician paying bankers who are trying to subvert the government of the United States in order to force everybody to serve them. I urge all people to rise up against them by any means necessary.

"Bank Shills
AUTHOR: Shane - Danville (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, October 08, 2011POSTED: Saturday, October 08, 2011  I can't believe the shills for the bank on here. Banks used to pay people to use their money. Now they have created a system where people HAVE to have a bank account to even get paid. (see the bible regarding the 666 system) Since they have done that, they charge for everything. I propose a system where banks are taken out of the loop and people pay cash on the barrel. What happened to the day where banks made their money by making loans. Some of you people remind me of the poor white trash of the old south who gave their lives to defend a small group of planter slave owners who were oppressing them. Simply unbelievable"

I just got back from cashing my "shill check" from the back, so thought I'd take a moment to post this.

Banks are a FOR PROFIT organization and are NOT obligated to provide free services.

"I propose a system where banks are taken out of the loop and people pay cash on the barrel."
You can "propose" all you want, but our credit system is pretty well entrenched and almost NO ONE ELSE would agree with you.

"What happened to the day where banks made their money by making loans."
They still do, fees have also always been a portion of thier income.

"...you people remind me of the poor white trash of the old south...."
Sorry, gotta take my "poor white trash" self out of my double wide and see if another "shill check" is here yet.

Cash on the Barrel!

I propose a system where banks are taken out of the loop and people pay cash on the barrel.

So why didn't you insist on cash?  There is no law that demands that you accept a check as payment.  Only U.S. currency is legal tender for all debts, public and private in the United States.

FYI, there was a time, circa 1978, when FDIC member banks were NOT allowed to charge a fee for cashing a check from one of their accounts (for a non-account holder.)-those FDIC rules were changed sime time ago (I think circa 1995 or 1996.)

What Shane doesn't realize is that the bank where he keeps his money probably charges the same fee to non-customers.

Rise up against a company because they charge for a service... I don't think so. You paid for a service to avoid a half hour drive. You could have mailed the check (with a deposit slip) to your bank for 44 cents.

Mia,

Many banks have been charging that fee for far more than thirteen years.

Where have you been?

Banks have been charging non-customers check cashing fees since 1998!  It is nothing new and nothing will change it.  However if you check this fact out, JPMorgan Chase was advised by the Federal government to take bailout money whether they needed it or not.  They did take the money and paid it right back, interest an all.  Chase's crime is it is a bank and is beholding to it's shareholders to be profitable, hence the fees.  Bank of America took bailout money, hasn't paid it all back and now they are laying off 30,000 employees. A simplistic view of the chain of events, I know, but that is real big deal.   I have more of a problem with that than paying Chase six bucks to cash a check.  But come to think of it, you could have avoided that fee by having the person give you a cashier's check, Chase doesn't charge non customers a fee to cash cashier's checks, or you could have gone to your own bank to cash the check..The fee you paid was for convenience and, unfortunately, we all have to pay for convenience.  Good Luck to you in the future!
