Chevron/GEMoney cheverontexacocards.com We got no bill, just a summary indicating an a late fee Internet
*Consumer Comment: You only hurt yourself by closing that account.
We received no bill for Feb/.March. We got a summary with a total plus a late fee,
There was no indication of individual charges, just the total.
We contacted the company who blamed the mail service. They agreed to send us a bill but refused to remove the late charge. Since we had never , over 15 years, been late, we objected.
We cancelled our card . The shole process of finding someone to talk to was very difficult, very time-consuming. Their 24-7 service does not exist as advertised, there are very specific hours.
To cancel our card was a repeat of the whole problem of finding someone who could do it.
Since Chevron sold their credit card service to GE it has been a mess.

You only hurt yourself by closing that account.

You had a long term account as you stated for approx 15 years with a perfect payment history.
You hastily closed that account over a simple late payment fee.
What you actually did was hurt yourself because you closed an account with 15 years longevity for credit scoring purposes. Depending of your mix of credit usage, this could impact your credit score by as much as 50 points!
You should have just stepped back and taken a deep breath and either called back the next day, or put your request in writing.
Your actions did not at all hurt Chevron, Texaco, or GE Money.
They could care less.
It is sad, but true, and even though I don't agree with that attitude of big business, it is the way it is.
