I purchased a baby ball python from Barc Reptiles. From the begining Kruiser would give me a hard time eating she just kept getting smaller. I took Kruiser to be checked and was told that she had a respiratory infection and was given a 20 percent chance to live. I followed all the instructions given to me and not even a week later Kruiser died.
First of all I was sold a Male and that is what I wanted so I thought. When I had Kruiser sexed it proved he was a she. I paid 70.00 all together for the snake and when she was shipped she was to arrive on a monday and fed ex truck broke down so she didnt arrive till tuesday. She was not moving so I put her under a basking lamp and she started moving. I notified them about the delayed shipment and they didnt seem concerned. I was told it was possible that is what caused the infection.
I notified Barc Reptiles that Kruiser had died, and they told me they would ship me another snake for 40.00. I dont feel that I should pay anything for another snake when I was sold a sick female not a healthy male.
I wrote the following to them:
According to consumer protection I am not obligated to provide you with shipping cost to replace Kruiser as I already paid you for a healthy snake as stated on your website. Please let me know if you have no intentions of shipping a healthy male ball python.
thank you
their reply:
Certainly not .I was gonna send you a courtesy replacement .
I was gonna send you a free one ,you pay shipping of 45.00
But this email just gets under my skin .
I am not obligated to send you a replacement at all.

so as it stands I dont get a replacement
I just want consumers to beware that I purchased what I thought was a healthy male ball python and what I got was a sick female ball python.

I have attached a copy of the terms of service as they are posted on our website

All animals are guaranteed to be healthy and well
represented.

All Reptiles are shipped overnight to your door

All Reptiles are guaranteed to arrive alive and well
as long as the following terms are met

1 Someone must be available to sign for the
package on the first attempt

2 Temps must be between 40 and 90 at all points
between the departure and arrival zone. Keep in
mind that the Fedex hub is in Memphis Tennessee. It
is your responsibility to notify us of the temps in your
area.

3 Any problems must be reported within 24 hours of
the arrival of the reptiles.

4 Shipping costs are not refundable under any
circumstances.

5 We reserve the right not to sell to anyone for any
reason.

6 We do want you to be happy with your purchase
from B.A.R.C. Reptiles and will be available for the life
of the animal to answer any of your questions.

7 There will be a 20 percent restocking fee imposed
on all cancelled orders.

8 We are not responsible for Carrier Errors..

Right off the bat the carrier delayed the delivery of the package .

The customer could have filed a complaint with fedex and gotten her money back .

We did not hear that there was any delay in recieving the shipment so we assumed all was wel.

The customer had the snake for around 3 months before it died .

Well passed the guarantee that we offer.

Even though the snake was in hand for almost 3 months I still offered to give the customer a free snake .

As the terms state we asked that she pay for shipping as shipping costs are not covered.

She didnt want to pay for shipping .

The customer opted to come online to blog her side of the stroy .

We are not a ripoff and offer a great service at a great price .

RESPONSE TO THOMAS, YOU ARE OUT OF THE LOOP

AUTHOR: Margaret - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 30, 2007

Of course people keep pet snakes in the house. They certainly can't put them in a little house in the yard with a Fido sign tacked over the door.

I would have one myself, but I have parrots and I don't think it would make a good in house mixture, but snakes do make good pets. The reticulator python is actually a better species of the python family, but they do grow fairly long.

I am a fan of having black snakes & king snakes near the house, but a pet snake in the house?

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

Put those snakes to work controlling the vermin, i.e. squirrels (aka tree rats), rats, mice, and so on....

I had a c1984 coworker who was from CA and who also owned a pet python. He & his wife sold their old couch to someone through the newspaper- it was a cash & carry deal.

A few hours after the couch was gone, they noticed that their snake was also missing. Their conclusion was that the buyer of the couch got an extra bargain. One can only hope that no one residing in the household receiving that couch had a heart problem.........
