This guy started out okay with lots of jokes. He's slow and he admits it. He doesn't seem very competent. He makes reference to his brother teaching him. Chuck is not very reliable or organized. He doesn't exercise common business etiquette. He never gives a SPECIFIC time that he will come. I changed my work schedule to accommodate when he said he would come. He kept changing the time then didn't come at all.

 

Worst of all, he hung a wall cabinet for me. He and his partner Maurice (I believe) hung it crooked. Only days later, it fell fron the wall injuring me. I called him out on this. He then promised many times that he would come, changing often. Then as I pressed him, he asked that I no longer call him. He doesn't answer his phone. He had bad diabetes and it affects his foot and movement/abilities. But most of all, he is slow, incompetent, and 'scrambled eggs' as far as organization and business savvy. Avoid CHUCK HANDYMAN SERVICES AT ALL COST! I have a wall full of holes, a broken cabinet, and injury. Now I must hire a real professional that's insured and certified. I will most likely see Chuck next in court.

 To begin with, I operate my business in an honest & professional manner. I never make a promise that I cannot keep and back up my work every time. Kevin called me about the problem with the cabinet. I immediately expressed my apologies and concerns over the reason it fell off the wall, asking him for details as to what and how it happened. (Red Flag #1), he said the screws going in to the anchors secured to the wall had all "unscrewed themselves and came down with the cabinet. All 4-screws simultaneously! I’ve used and have NEVER had a single failure with that particular anchor system, Ever! I also used that same anchoring system on 2 of the 3 other cabinets I installed that same day. After he was finished complaining/whining, I told him I would certainly come and make things right. I gave him a couple of "time windows” I thought would work for me to come. (Red Flag #2), he insisted that I give him an exact time. Had I gone there to fix it would have been the 4th or, 5th time going there. I tried to narrow it down and we finally agreed on a date and time. I remember it being 2PM in the afternoon. I had a small job in the morning of that day and everything was going smoothly and on schedule to get to him on time and perhaps, early. I let him know I’d be there that morning (sometime between 10-11AM. (GIANT Red Flag #3), between 11AM and 1PM, after answering my phone at least 4-5 times saying, "Yes” I’ll be there, he keeps calling me back, 32-TIMES! I’m trying to finish up and get to him, not keep answering my phone. Then, my phone battery is dying and I have to plug it in to my charger but, it keeps ringing and won’t charge! That’s when I gave up on him and realized that there was more to this situation than the problem with the cabinet. The only way I can describe it would be: OCD Monster! Or, he’s not taking his psych medication. I could easily provide dozens of references from actual clients but, with people like Kevin (whom, I’m sure is a frequent "posting person” on this website), out there to obtain my client reference’s information, then, I’d be worthy of a complaint against me.
