This company has no way to verify whether or not they are selling to minors over the internet.  Their website VOWS they don't, but they sold my 15 year old a pipe using my credit card info, but his delivery info, and never asked his age.  Parents - be careful of these folks = they will sell your kids drug paraphenalia and do not mind taking your money for it.  I'm still waiting on a response - left voice mail, sent e-mail, and finally called the bank and disputed it.  I still have to "hurry up and wait".  Ridiculous.

Alright I will agree that her blame is in the wrong place but who are all of you to judge her or her son. Everyone has made mistakes even all of you. I find it wierd that you all need to give parenting advice to someone you dont know. I find it amazing how many people will judge someone from one piece of info. God you people are pathetic. As for the single mom I hope you and your son work through this and he learns a lesson from all this.

I don't know if the company decided to make things right, or if the bank did - but the charge is no longer on my account.  If it was the seller - thank you.

Ken: thanks for your kind comments.  My parents are very active in his life - but I don't get many breaks.....he thinks he is too old to be with them too awful much.  I feel I have done all I can as a parent, and people like Batman just want to push me a little closer to a 6 ft. hole.

At any rate, it is over - I am done posting to this complaint.  Thank you all.

and it would appear you really are trying to help your rebellious son.

You CAN accomplish it, I speak from experience.  My wife and I raised a son and daughter. At 13, our daughter hated everyone and everything and fought us on all we tried to do.  We managed to survive, she may have come close (several times) to NOT surviving, however.

She is now a GREAT mother to our grandson.

If we could survive this experience, you can too.

Do you have famiy that can sometimes give you a much needed break by taking him for a short time, periodically?

Hang in there, you'll be glad down the road when he's out of school and making you proud of him.

Good luck.

Batman - apparently in your eyes I am not a good mother - or even a good human being.  Thanks for the encouraging words.  Perhaps I should just disappear from the face of the earth today - I've just been waiting for someone else to confirm what a bad human I am - Thanks.  Today is the day - this is the last post you will ever see from me.  I will pass custody of my son to his grandparents today and then as soon as the papers are signed, I will disappear and all with be right with your world again where I am concerned.  RIP 1972 - 2012

Excuses

Wow, that's a season's worth of soap opera issues you got going on over there. We've all got problems, ma'am, and it seems you've got more than your fair share, I can understand that.

The fact of the matter is, your post on this site provided none of that information. You came on here and blamed a business for your son's mistakes and left it at that.

All those personal problems in your update are likely why your kid bought a bong using your stolen credit card online and you know what, that business isn't responsible for a single one of those issues. Can you see that? This isn't about about your situation or my opinion of you and your son... it's about you blaming a business for your son's actions.

My point was and is, you were not ripped off and it was wrong of you to come to site like this and damage the reputation of a business.

Now granted, in this case the business appears to be some scumbags who sell drug paraphernalia over the internet, so I doubt it really matters here... but what if you posted a report about a local plumber, mechanic, doctor, etc? Do you realize that you could have done some real damage to that person's business and reputation?

I get that your plate is full and with as much as your dealing with, and there's probably not room for much else. However, you still have two important things to keep in mind, perspective and accountability. As angry as you may be at the situation, you and your son are responsible for what happened, not the business.

I'm glad you're addressing your kid's issues and I hope things get better for both of you in the new year.

As for me being a coward... I don't exactly control the respond buttons and it appears you managed to post your rebuttal just fine. I thought I was supposed to be the one jumping to conclusions without all the information? I guess your horse isn't much higher...

Anyway, to respond to people on a report you created, you probably have to use the "update report" options instead of the respond buttons... If you have continued difficulty using the site, I suggest you check out their help pages or contact their support people.

Good luck.

The company is not at fault your SON is!  My nephew did the same thing with my sister's CC to order XBOX games without her knowledge.  He got that box taken away and had to pay for the charges.  This company has/had no knowledge about the age of your son when he ordered this paraphenalia.  Stop playing the victim and place blame where it lies with your SON!

I have no hostility towards what you said, but I don't think you should fire off at me like that without knowing the whole story.  My case and point with the vendor is to Not ship it and give me my refund.

As for my son, I am a single mother of 15 years, on my own since he was 2.  His father had a problem with domestic abuse and alcoholism.  Growing up, he was not exposed to drugs nor alcohol - actually, quite the opposite - he has been raised in church all of his life.  He is generally a good kid and is very sensitive.  I have hovered over him for the last year, taking every illegal substance he was found with, alienated from his friends that I know are on the wrong path.

I had my card out (and forgot to put it away) to pay for my own medications (legal prescriptions) from a fall I suffered in August.  I have been out of work, fighting the co. to get my workers comp benefits, denied STD benefits, and have been dependent upon my parents to help me (Thank God).  My son is drug tested randomly a minimum of 10 days a month.  He has been in counseling for two years, and was recently sent to a psychiatrist, so I am being a stand up parent, and I am taking care of my son.

He realized he was wrong the minute I asked him about it and was immediately remorseful for doing it.  He is being treated medically for impulsiveness, and so there again, is more of the story you did not seem to get or understand.

Don't judge my parenting and it's not my fault his father abandoned him at 2.

The part of your comment I liked best, is that you made sure I couldn't rebut directly to you - I could on every other comment EXCEPT yours - seems cowardly if you ask me.

OR lock HIM up.
-
There are plenty of "Scared Straight" programs out there.  I am sure that he could benefit from.

Your son has committed theft.  If he did this to a stranger he would be in jail anyways.

He is buying drug paraphernalia, where regardless of what you want to believe he did not buy them to blow bubbles.

He has also probably lied to you, so do you even know if this is the first case of this?

what Batman wrote....he's dead on and giving you good information and advice.

I couldn't have said it nearly as well.

Withold any anger you may have for him posting it and take it to heart.

Your 15 year old is definitely out of control and dis-respecting his mother.

Maybe you need to lock up your credit cards, checkbook and cash OR lock HIM up.

I just realized, you're disputing the charge with the bank instead of returning the item for a refund?

So you're plan is to keep the bong and your money???? Nice.

Guess we can all see where your son gets his conscience from, huh?

He used a credit card!

AUTHOR: Batman - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, December 31, 2011

The easiest way to prevent this from happening in the future is to punish your kid properly. It's not the website's fault, it's yours. That's right, I said it... this is YOUR fault.

Personally, I'd smash the bong in front of him and make him pay for it himself. No job? Chore time.

It's clear the untrained animal you call your son is already a liar, thief, drug addict, and all around bad seed. Great start for a 15 year old...

Besides, when ordering the bong, he pretended to be you. That's a little thing called IDENTITY THEFT! So add that to the list...

I don;t think it wouldn't of mattered what precautions the website took because I'm pretty sure your little thief would of found a way around them. (and if retailers were so strict, you'd probably complain about that then when YOU tried to buy something)

Bottom line is, by using a credit card and pretending to be you, the sellers thought he was over 18 and frankly, that's enough for them and any reasonable person. Besides, how do you know there wasn't some sort of declaration that he had to check off saying he was over 18 when he made the purchase?

Whether there was or wasn't isn't the issue though... the issue is your anger is totally focused in the wrong place and I doubt this is the first time.

Heck, I imagine this is why junior pulls crap like this to begin with, because it's never HIS fault, is it? NOOOOOO, it's the seller's fault for not checking his age better. Or the neighbor's fault for not locking his car doors. Or the grocery store's fault for selling him eggs. Or the hardware store's fault for selling spray paint.

Give me a break.

And no matter what, you should probably address his drug issues first. The kid is 15 and he's stealing from mom to support his habit? Without proper help and guidance, that's a real winner you'll have raised there.

Honestly, it looks like the only one who got ripped off here is your kid. He should have better parents with more common sense...

You're son had your credit card?

AUTHOR: Ramjet - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 30, 2011

How does any Internet company know for sure who has the credit card information?  IF they asked and he lied how would they know? On most of them you just fill out a form.

You really need to discuss this with him and find out how he got the credit card info.
