I was told that I could get a free credit report. I didn't notice until several months later that my debit card was charged. I tried several time to contact the company that was listed on my bank statement and was unsuccessful. I tried to recoup my funds from my credit union was denied because of the time that had elapsed when I discovered the fraudulent charges.
