CIC TRIPLE ADVANTAGE - CICCREDIT MONITORING FREE CREDIT REPORT ripoff Irvine California

Here is my saga with CIC/EXPERIAN
Well, I thought that I was getting a "FREE" credit report. I had read that the Federal Government allowed every individual to obtain a credit report at no charge. I thought that I was doing all the right things. I mean all people would want to know what their credit score is. So I proceeded.

Next thing I know is that on my credit card statement, I was getting charged $9.95 from CIC Credit Monitoring, $12.00 from CIC Triple Advantage, $12.95 from EQUIFAX Consumer, totaling $34.90 on my credit card. I mean if the charges went on, that would be $418.80 a year. I am only one person, that sum could add up with, well?
The only one of the above mentioned companies that I could cancel with online was EQUIFAX Consumer, and that happened.

I called the other 2 and finally got that cancelled. I will see on my next statement.

All along I thought that I was obtaining my free credit report and did not know about charges.

I would think this type of business dealing would be against the law. I hope that it is not me being a consumer and my stupidity.
