#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Could that be Jerry Nelson posing as a driver?

LOL it couldn't be more obvious that a higher level employee or even the owner himself made that second comment.  Cimarron Coach of Virginia does not look for college graduates when they hire lol.  As you can see from the outrageous grammar used in the complaint section of this "article" (LOL), the employee has very little education, and even less common sense.  Yes, I did work for Cimarron, and let me tell you, they are TRUE SCUMBAGS.  That being said, They do know how to cover their asses when it comes to things like not having a gas card.  You getting fired for that, or even for the hours of service violation is ridiculous and most likely your own fault.  You can easily manipulate the dispatcher if you have any sense into thinking he will be in trouble if he doesn't do what you are telling him.  These are West Virginians here man, it doesn't take a rocket scientist.
Anyway, they do participate in a lot of illegal activity, but they do it in a way that is not so forward.  For instance, if the driver had TOLD dispatch in the right way that he was making the company liable, and could not LEGALLY drive, they would certainly not have responded with DRIVE OR YOU'RE FIRED! they would move on to the next high school drop out willing to work for 15 cents a mile.  THIS is where you start to get angry with Cimarron.  These are slave wages, and when asking an employee to drive for 16 hours, you at least give him time and a half!  These rules apply to all classes, to all ends of the spectrum.  Even if your wage is so pathetic that multiplying it makes almost no difference, it is STILL YOUR RIGHT!  I myself was an employee of Cimarron, but I unlike the usual moron willing to work for pennies, was simply a FUGITIVE LOL.  I am smart and well (self) educated, but I was also honest about my legal status when applying, yet no one cared.  There are not many places in our country who are so willing to "look the other way".

#1 UPDATE Employee

Responsibility starts with #1

As an employee of the company, I can tell you that I too was not initially issued a gas card. They were out at the time I came on board but until they came in, I was issued a user ID number which could then be used with any other driver's card. Finding another driver was never difficult since we are all assigned a location to drive out of be it Norton or Bluefield or anywhere else. Every gas station is on board with the Cimarron Coach gas card so finding a participating station is a breeze.

Faulty equipment? Sure, it happens. But as a driver, it is your responsibility to report it and get it into the shop for repairs. If the repairs take more than a few moments, another vehicle is assigned. As the driver, you have the responsibility to look over the vehicle and make sure it is in good working order before you drive it off the lot. That's what the pre-trip checklist is all about. The company can't possibly know every detail of every vehicle without input from the people who drive them. I've had issues with vans assigned to me and I took them to the mechanic and got another vehicle. It is so easy that even a child would be able to figure it out.

The company does not require you to stay on the road for 15 hours. That may be what you thought you had to do to make money, but that is just not the case. I'm sorry you so misunderstood the terms of your employment or that your supervisor didn't explain it to you. You did ask, right? That's what you have to do to get answers. Information is never more than a phone call away. And the call is free for you.
