City Center Parking Lets End the Parking Monopoly in Portland Portland Oregon

Dear Mayor of Portland,

RE: Parking

I lived in Beaverton Oregon and worked in downtown Portland, I paid $10 a day just so I could keep my job. That's $200 a month. I applied for a parking permit from City Center Parking and was put on a waiting list for months before getting a pass card that would end up costing me $145 a month just to get to my job. I knew it was exorbitant but I had no choice and had to pay it or lose my job.

One day I forgot to place my pass card back at the front windshield when I came back from lunch. I returned to my car to find a ticket on my windshield for $40 for forgetting to place card on windshield. I was amazed that the idiot that wrote the ticket was smart enough to know I had a pass and instead of leaving me a warning sticky since he knew I was a paying monthly customer, he decided to extort more money out of me as if I wasn't getting ripped off as it is, after all parking had become my most expensive monthly bill and it was only parking. I was outraged and immediately sent them an email explaining that if they charged me they should cancel my pass as well. This was the 11^th of October. By the 15^th I had already canceled the pass card, so I was well before 10 days to November. I was told when purchasing this pass that if I canceled 10 days before the beginning of next month I would not have to pay for that month.

They are now determined to get another $145 dollars out of me and I turned in the pass card almost two weeks before the end of October. This is unacceptable, and it is even more unacceptable that our government would allow this type of predator/criminal activity.

PS: I have offered a settlement of $72.50 only because of the misunderstanding. I am willing to pay this if they send me a letter stating I owe them nothing else and we are done with our relation.
