This company advertised a free service. They promised a copy of my credit report, which was provided only on-line through their site. They also promised to dispute any entries on the credit report that looked like they would be incorrect. The advertisement stated that they would do so only with my permission.

The fine print, however, stated that they would e-mail me about anything that they intended to dispute "on my behalf," and I had to e-mail them with in three days if I did not want them to dispute the entries. Otherwise, they would dispute the entries and charge me an unspecified fee for the service.

This company did e-mail me to say that they had identified a mortgage account on rental property as something to dispute. I missed it on my e-mail until a week later, and they disputed the same legitimate entry with all three major credit reporting companies, charging me a total of $79.50.

I called ClearCredit to cancel my account on April 4th, realizing that it was a rip-off. My latest credit card statement showed that they had charged my an additional $63.60 on March 29th. When I contacted them about it, they said it was for disputing some 17 items for my wife; however, she never received any e-mails about any such thing.

What's more, even if my credit report had contained any errors, ClearCredit offers no real solutions. The credit bureaus do not recognize ClearCredit as a legitimate agent and take no action oin their "disputes."

I hope that somebody with the wherewithal to do so gets a class action suit together against these jerks. I will be glad to help.
