Clout Financial Services Credit card scams by Clout Financial Services Madison Wisconsin
*Consumer Comment: Eastern Asset is nothing but empty threats most of the time
Clout financial gave me a credit card before I turned 18 years old it was mailed to me without my knoweledge I accepted the credit card and it started out as a $600 credit limit and then went to $1250. I was recently contacted by eastern asset management about a debt of $5,589.99 It was supposedly accrued and late fees and interest I supposedly accepted when I took the credit card. I have now been threatened to be taken to court and sued for over $8000 dollars if I dont settle it for $2500 dollars

Eastern Asset is nothing but empty threats most of the time

Every, I mean EVERY time you communicate with Eastern Asset Management, record the phone conversation, and demand that they send you proof of the debt via US postal mail. They are scavenger-debt collectors, and they buy debt for pennies on the dollar - some of those debts are uncollectable or out of statute. They and their attorney (that they mention in their threatening e-mails) are being sued left and right by numerous people. NEVER admit you owe that debt. Keep record of every violation they commit so you can use it for a court case if you decide to sue them for violation of the FDCPA.
The burden of proof is on THEM to prove you owe that debt, not on you to prove you don't. You can file an FTC complaint on them, I did over a debt they tried to collect of mine that I had paid off two years ago. www.ftc.gov is the place to file a complaint if you think it you have a legit case. Even if you do owe that debt, they still have to follow the law and if they don't they should be held accountable.
p.s. they threaten to sue everyone, it's their standard practice. 9 times out of 10 it is just an idle threat to scare you into paying.
