Collection Bureau Services purchased a debt I owed from a hospital. I had been making monthly payments for five years until I finally paid them in full the beginning of May. About the time I wanted to settle the debt, the debt collector seemed to be addicted to my monthly payments and did not want to let them go. She said I owed more than my balance due on my statement but refused to tell me how much, she threatened to garnish my wages when I told her I could not continue to pay on this above what I owed. They have since created false accounts and are reporting them to all three reporting agencies. They are liars and theives and I pray no consumer falls into their hands.

yep liars

AUTHOR: matt - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Just like its stated above, i am a uninsured american with hospital debt. From the start i have had a hard time keeping up with the payments. I was contacted about 9 months after they had bought the debt saying that i was behind. Well after talking to the representative he said that if i make $100 payments atleast they would not charge me intrest, sounds to good to be true right, well it is. I made $100 payments for almost a year and they did not send me an updated bill. So finally when they were threatened with legal action they sent me a bill. They had been charging me 10% intrest the whole time. So of course i called and asked what the heck was going on. The representative was rude and told me i was a liar for saying they would not charge intrest, and as a matter of fact my debt had increased because i wasn't even keepin up with intrest.  THEY ARE LIARS, CHEATS, AND THEIFS //  I HOPE THEY READ THIS BECAUSE GOD HAS A SPECIAL PLACE FOR PEOPLE LIKE THIS// I THINK ITS NEXT TO HITLER

I also need to add that they were continuing to send me bills . Showing no extra added $$$ from May untill September . So another rippoff. The bills they were sending me did not reflect the Levy They placed upon me in May. Totally unethical practice !!! How is this legal The world is going to Hell in a handbasket folks. I am quite sure practises like this are only going to become more prevalent. How ever after reading some sites on the internet. Some theiving places like this are getting shut down I for one am going to write my congressmen We need to start taking charge over these evil practises just like credit cards. Well OK I fell a little better now. Just having said this. Please anyone out there who has been screwed by this once again evil company please tell me your story,I cannot be the only one Signed outraged by our declining society!!!!!

Collection Bureau Services of Missoula parasites

AUTHOR: Lisa - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, October 23, 2009

I agree with Jiffypop, (Collection BS in Missoula MT) I have been like every other uninsured person in America . My purticular case was given over to these unethical parasites. I have been paying on my bill for over 2 years. When suddenly I am at the grocery store getting food for my family when I was denied. Checked my card at the ATM 0$$$ I could not figure out what happened untill the next day when I called My Bank, A levy was put on my account by you guessed it CBS . Imagine my anger as I had been paying on this bill and what I thought was current. They had applied for a levy in MAY and removed  $$ from my account in October. When I called them on this I was told MY PROBLEM and was hung up on. You have got to be kidding me. To bad for them not much denaro in my account. Icalled again to ask why I was not contacted by them? I was told they talked to some guy. That guy was my mentally disabled son. He can answer the phone but not real good at relaying messages. His Dr. would attest to this. This was the best they could do!!!! Unbelievable. Not only did they continue to take my $$$ But than jacked my bill up $500.00. So a bill that was originally $2100.00 after 2 and a half yearrrrs. Was now $1550.49. Now threating to garnish my wages. No Way I am borrowing $$ from a friend to pay these unethical fags off. Like a credit card , these people will find a way to keep charging me. As for Judge Waddlin Oldin does not surprise me in this corrupt town.My biggest beef is their absolute audasity to say I have no power. They accepted my $$ and made no complaint about it As for ripping off my personal account, could have given me a heads up I mean this has been since MAY!!!!! These people will not compromise take your $$ and screw you .As For the obviously unhappy employee I talked to What goes around comes around. She may someday be in our shoes. Obama health INS for everyone could put these PARASITES out of a Job.Credit card companies are getting slapped for ethics I think Collection companies should be next on the chopping block

"Jiffyspop" needs to learn the law! You cannot go to jail for bad debt!!

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 30, 2008

By the looks of the poor spelling and grammar, this appears to be the same person in other threads talking about being put in jail for non payment of debts.

Once again, it simply does not happen. You CANNOT go to jail for non-payment of a debt. Period.

Get some education.

settlement- misunderstood

AUTHOR: R - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 16, 2006

No, I initally tried, they didn't want to. I see where you got the idea that I paid them a "Settlement". That isn't what happened though, they have been paid above and beyond what we owed. Seriously, if it was fair and legal, I wouldn't complain.

response to Settlement??

AUTHOR: Rachelle - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 14, 2006

I don't know where you got the idea that I paid them a "settlement"! I tried that and it didn't work so I PAID THEM IN FULL! They took the payment, ran and then created false accounts on my credit report.

I want to be very clear that I have done everything right, fullfilled my obligation, but this agency is trying to rip me off. They are unethicle, illegal, deceptive crooks! I will not continue to pay on something I no longer owe.

I know that a collector can report to the bureau, I am not stupid. They can't make up false accounts and balances or report something that is inaccurate, that is illegal. Either you are one of these slimeballs or you can't read. I think my report was very clear in what these people are trying to do.

settlement???

AUTHOR: Don - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 14, 2006

A debt collector does not have to offer a settlement. Settlement numbers come directly from the client. For example, if I owe money to Wal-Mart, and Wal-Mart has NCO collect for them, Wal-Mart decides if a settlement can be offered to the debtor. Even if they have provide settlement number, the collector does not have to offer it. Unfournately, that is part of the negotiation process. IF you have been paying for 5 years, you are right, they may see you as someone who will continue to pay. In most businesses, you would sell something for $1000 if you could get it, indtead of offering a lower price.

Also, a debt collector can report a debt to the credit bureau (although I think the debt has to be above $500). They can not creat false accounts, as that is illegal.
