In the beginning of this year (2009), we were enticed into changing over our internet and television service from Direct TV to Comcast Cable.  The service was spotty and unreliable from the beginning, but we were determined to make it work because of the promotional rates.  On or about the end of June, we stopped receiving the paper invoice, but we didn't realize it until the service automatically suspended for lack of payment.  In the beginning of August, I had to call Comcast to restore the service and I specifically requested that they send a paper invoice. At that time, the Comcast customer service representative confirmed that we requested a paper bill and also confirmed the correct mailing address.  However, at the end of August (8/28/09), they disconnect the service again because we were again late.  Still we haven't received any paper and I had to call again to restore the service.  Yesterday (9/24/09), I finally received a paper bill that had an additional $16.99 added to the amount owed; Late Fee $7.00, Convenience Fee $4.00, Reactivation Fee $5.99.  Since I haven't see the paper bills from June to September, it is possible that I have been charged these unfair and unethical fees all along.  Today, I asked to speak to a customer service representative who, after 30 minutes of explaining and arguing, she only was allowed to remove the late fee.  She and her supervisor said that the other fees can not be waived.  My question to you, my fellow consumers, is this fair and just.  Should I have been charged fees for something that wasn't our fault in the first place?  How many consumers are charged these fees without their knowledge and pay it without question?  If Comcast admitted to waive the late fee as they just did, they should also remove the convenience fee and reactivation fee.  If I received the invoice, it would have been paid on time with all of my other monthly statements.  I think that Camcast should be investigated and prosecuted for unfair billing practices.

Florida Statute...pay your bill

AUTHOR: JeanClaudio - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 23, 2009

Florida statutes state that customers need not receive paper nor electronic bills to be responsible for charges. You have an account, you failed to pay, you were charged late fees, etc.

Next time pay your bill on time idiot.

My veiw

AUTHOR: ralee@telusplanet.net - (Canada)

POSTED: Friday, September 25, 2009

I have been doing this a lot lately but....and there is allways a butt I don't have any need for a good credit report soo I have been digging in my heals and telling anyone who discontinues billing me in the agreed manner to send the bill as agreed and I will pay it, if you don't notify me in the agreed manner of the amount you won't get paid. I have several e mail notifications, one or two direct from the account things and the rest have to send a bill, no bill no money. Remember you are the customer and are to be respected on that basis alone, if they change the rules, as they are allowed to, they must notify you of the new rules in a timely and maner so that you will acctually be notified or they are in the wrong. Good Luck

Why did you ignore it?

AUTHOR: Ashley - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 25, 2009

You obviously knew that you owed for your cable every month. Why didn't you call them to inquire about a bill? Just because you do not recieve a paper statement, does not mean you can ignore the bill. You still owe the bill. You should have been more proactive in contacting them about this problem instead of repeatedly ignoring it. So yes, it is fair that you be charged a reconnect fee in both cases. You have a responsibility in all of this too.

AUTHOR: IamGood - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, September 25, 2009

Ken:

You know you had comcast cable, and you know it has a fee associated with it.

Why did you not call Comcast when the bill for each of those months did not come in?

Did you think it was free?

You had some responsibilities here too big fella.
