Phone bill was inflated with frivilous charge that could not be explained by customer service. I called in three times for an explaination and never received an explaination ! Federal Number portability was not honored by this company. To change features on the phone line your phone number had to be changed. Was billed $228 for one month of phone service. In summary, no service frivilous unexplainable charges. Do not get slammed by this company !

What are these "frivolous" charges? Are they one time charges related to putting in your DSL or new monthly recurring charges?
Did you recently move into Consolidated Communications territory? If so, from where. Local Number Portability as it relates to landlines, allows you to keep you existing phone number if you change carriers within the same geographic area. So, if you used Consolidated and then wanted to go to VoIP with say Vonage, you can keep your number. But if you moved from say Grapevine, TX, which is Verizon territory to the Conroe/Lufkin area, you can't keep your Grapevine number. You have to get a new number from Consolidated.
If you did not move, one possible scenario is that the Central Office that your original phone number came out of was not DSL capable. If so, they would have to assign you a new number out of a CO that was DSL capable. You would not even be able to back haul it from the old CO to the new one because DSL is distance sensitive and that would put it over the 17,000' limit.
They do owe you a complete explantion of all the charges on your bill. You should dispute the charges, in writing, do not do this over the phone.
