Continental tires My tires too seem defective--one (pretty new tire) busted open while driving on highway --lucky I was not injured! very scarry

I was driving my Mercedes SLK on highway and driver's side front tire--Continental -- busted open and seperated from the rim part of the tire.

Seemed defective to me.! I immediately replaced the other continental tire as I was so scarred this would happen again. I kept the one that was busted and the new one (it's companion) for evidence.

The tire place said they are not liable for the tire--they only sell them!!!--I put on Michelin tires now. I have never had a problem with a Michelin tire!

Very scarry--could have had a serious accident. The nice guys on the Turnpike --Florida Road Rangers-- literally saved me and prevented serious accident. Those guys were great! I hope someone does a class action lawsuit. Just because I survived uninjured (not my car--just me) doesn't mean someone shouldnot investigate and fix this issue with COntinental tires. I will report to NTSB.
