I hired Shola Abidoye, founder of Converport to help me create, publish, and market a bestselling book for $5,000. Unfortunately, after delaying everything six months past the due date, she decided to cut off all contact with me without delivering what I paid. I have yet to receive even a partial refund for what I paid, and Ms. Abidoye publically denies that I hired her to do these things.

You can read the full details of my experience getting ripped off and scammed by Convertport here: http://www.borderlessblog.com/shola-abidoye-scam-inspired-me-write-self-publish-first-book/

Shola's actions speak for themselves.

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Thursday, March 17, 2016

So, let's review what's happened here.

1. Shola Abidoye promises to produce a book and bestseller status for me within 3 months for $5,000

2. After nine months, she has delivered only the book cover, title, and basic transcripts of interviews.

3. To disavow all responsibility, she arbitrarily assigns a valuation to the amount she claims she spent working on the project (with no proof), and she makes up a bunch of labels of "services" she claims she offered (with no agreement from me on these things, invoices, receipts, etc.).

4. Rather than refunding me for the invoiced services she did not deliver, she instead feels I am obligated to pay her for services never discussed or agreed to or delivered. She claims the reason she did not produce my book is because I did not install a tracking code on my website. Please try figuring that one out, or even finding a line of dialogue in our calls where she asks me to do so.

5. As "proof" of her claims, she posts a couple of sentences of emails and 3 minutes of audio from our 9 months of interactions.

6. To try to save her reputation, she pretends to care about charity.

Holy crap. I certainly hope anyone considering working with Shola Abidoye or Convertport takes the time to read her rebuttals in detail here. This is the moral code of the woman you will be handing your money over to. Even if I had made up all my claims about her, the statements made by her here should be more than enough to dissuade any thinking person from wanting to associate with her professionally. And this is the exact same story which will be in the book I now have to produce for myself, because Shoal Abidoye failed me so dearly.

FINAL REBUTTAL:Recorded Conversation With Client vs VoiceMail & Proof of Services Being Used By Client

AUTHOR: M. Lawson Client Services Convertport - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, March 17, 2016

As is standard in the services industry, we have a no refund policy on services rendered, once the bulk of the work is begun and complete.  The reason is simple: unlike a physical product that can be handed back for a refund if the client is not  satisfied, there is no way to replace/refund the labor hours and intangible inputs back to the service  provider upon refund.

As an example, when a customer goes to the store and buys shoes, if they are not pleased, they submit their receipt, return the shoes (the merchant's product) and get their money back.

Our 'product' is professional labor, services, software and IP.  Mr. Diehl is asking for a cash refund on services rendered that he is using and has used.

If a client is displeased, we work hard to replace or redo the work. As we did here. We went out of our way to try to deliver results for this client. As an example in addition to free facebook page set up, we also did a client acquisition audit and executive marketing plan summary - completely free of charge guiding the client to what he wanted (examples 1-3)

MP3 OF CALL DISCUSSING THE PROJECT:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzYUrfEKl29_R0hDQUgybGhLMUU/view?usp=sharing

Mr. Diehl was told on MULTIPLE occasions that our service was not a "magic bullet" and there was absolutely no way we could deliver on our brand promise without him doing the basics of installing tracking code on his website or having a basic marketing plan set up for his business.

He never used the tracking code.

If Mr. Diehl can return the fair market value of the combined labor hours, software as a service and other IP, that went into the portion of the service that he received - also in cash - we are happy to see this difference in opinion as resolved. Otherwise what Mr. Diehl is asking for is something for nothing. And as a professional service provider this is neither fair, just or in line with company policy.

Mr. Diehl was asked quite clearly what additionally he wanted in order to feel satisfied with us doing business. Even after 6 months of not placing tracking code on his website that was a critical part of our being about to measure the conversions he invested in.

PER HIS REQUEST, and in a final act to please, when it was clear that what he wanted was an end result for which he did not pay, we then also completed the Client Acquisition System Audit, which retails for an  additional $5,000+ - *in addition to the other services rendered.

At mimimum, we would expect the hourly rate - billed at $2.92 a minute, $175.2 per hour (50+ hrs = $8,790) equal to the Clarify.fm fee he charges for his own services.

With 16 years of experience our founder's billing supersedes this.

Again, if Mr. Diehl is ready to return the fair market value of the combined labor hours, inputs, and IP that went into the portion of the service that he has received (over $10,000) - **also in cash** - we would  be thrilled. Once he does this, we are happy to post his payment receipt and we will post our refund receipt. ALL TRANSACTIONS WILL BE HELD IN ESCROW BY A THIRD PARTY TO AVOID FURTHER COMPLICATION. We recommend Mr.Diehl use Escrow.com. Once he posts his Escrow.com receipt, he can post it here.

And as a final act to reflect our company values our founder is happy to  donate a portion of the returned services fair market value of $10,000 to the nonprofit organization Girls Who Code - GirlsWhoCode.com/. We will co-donate a portion of these funds in both Mr. Diehl's name as well.

Even though the client bought a one-size-fit all package we provided multiple rounds of customized services in an attempt to please (here is an example of two very different and expensive book copywriting and design iterations we did - again no other clients received this level of customization for the same price)

Full email and call records in response to Shola Abidoye's out of context screenshots

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Sunday, March 13, 2016

I anticipated that Shola Abidoye was going to take a few sentences of emails out of context to make it look like I was somehow very happy with everything until for no reason I decided to try to frame her for theft. She’s also going to pretend that it was my fault for hiring her without having what she considers a “real business” in place. With that in mind, I’m going to share every relevant call, email, and Skype exchange we have had so that anything presented by either party can be analyzed in full context.

Realistically, to put me in my place forever and salvage her reputation, all Shola has to do is prove that she did produce the manuscript and everything else detailed on the $5,000 invoice she sent me. Anything else that either one of us has to say is irrelevant. It would immediately make me look like a fool and a cheat trying to somehow profit unfairly off her hard work and exploit her services. I have already admitted here in the DC and elsewhere publically the components of the invoice that she did complete as promised, such as the ebook cover design, title, interviews, and some press release distribution (most of which seem to no longer be up).

I would like it noted that every email I sent which displays my satisfaction with her work was either sent during the early stages of our work together when things were still on schedule, or after a long conversation many months later where she falsely assured me that I was going to get everything I paid for and more. The only thing they prove is that I am far too gullible.

I'm not interested in her character analysis of me, my professional skills, or anything else. I only want to know where what I paid for is. This is the same conversation I tried to have with Shola before it became clear she had blocked me and was not interested in coming to a peaceful partial refund agreement.

I’ve uploaded all our calls here to verify everything I claim is true. The April 3 call is when we first spoke about the DC Offer she made for webinar help. Starting on the April 9 call, she details very clearly what I would receive for my $5,000 investment on creating and making this book a bestseller. On the November 2 call, she admits making a mistake by taking my money but once again firmly promises a November release date for the book on Amazon.

Here you can find copies of all pertinent emails between myself, Shola, and her employee Khan, with annotations added for emphasis on select ones to show the many false promises and missed deadlines. In the Jan 12 email thread, you will see my very clear attempt to come to a mutual agreement on an appropriate partial refund and properly terminate our working relationship. In the Skype conversation document, you can see where I brought the fact that false information about me was added to the very brief preview of the manuscript I was shown, as well as my request to review and edit it myself, Ms. Abidoye’s refusal, and the ultimate result of my threatening to sue her if she published false information in my name without my consent, causing her to immediately block all contact with me:  drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B6XftF8QvSBiYWFRRW9heEpodXM&usp=sharing

Here again is everything I was told I would receive within the quarter that we started working together, in addition to a guarantee of a return on my $5,000 investment due to being able to charge higher prices for my services. I’ve noted which ones were not delivered. I am happy to answer any relevant questions to the topic of whether or not I received what I paid for in the manner I was promised.

My only intention is for the truth to be seen and justice to be restored. I have already extended the olive branch to Ms. Abidoye and offered to remove all public disparaging remarks and sign a permanent non-disparagement agreement if she just refunds me for the services she did not deliver.

Mr. Diehls statements are knowingly and patently false

AUTHOR: M. Lawson Client Services Convertport - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, March 11, 2016

Mr. Diehls claims are knowingly and patently false. And he's making these statements to promote the very project we delivered over $10,000 in services for, to further promote himself and his company, online. First, we have record of over 50+ emails, phone calls, webinar and instant message communication over the course of our 7+ months engagement with him and he knows this.  As an example, Mr Diehl has knowingly withheld from his false recount of this story that we communicated to him several times when project deadlines had to be pushed back due to the company founders illness.  All clients deadlines had to be pushed back, and we worked diligently to complete them on a first come first serve basis. To prove this here is a screenshot of one of Mr. Diehls emails to us months into the engagement where he said “I appreciate the work you do.” (email sent to us after he was informed our founder had a torn ligament)

In an effort to please Mr. Diehl we even offered him a complementary Facebook campaign setup, a service he said he wanted, that other clients would have to pay up to $2000 for.  But we told him well ahead of time we did not have the resources to gift him free unlimited monthly campaign management services in perpetuity.  In a recorded call Mr. Diehl said “he didn't want to have to think about marketing” and “ he didn't have sales funnel”.  We told him quite clearly that he did not pay for our landmark highest level CRSP service that he heard about in the media and his response was “I know this”(we have MP3’s records of these calls)

Communication broke down when Mr. Diehl asked for very customized services when he’d paid for a productized service.  The only way that our small establishment is able to offer so much value at such a marginal cost is through the one size fit all model. Important to note is that part if Mr. Diehls package included access to our marketing automation platform, we have record that he did not log in over the course of work with us to even use the service.  How is it possible for him to the make claims that we didn't do any work for him when he didn't even log in?  There's also evidence in the search engine of our publication of authority branding coverage across multiple press release sources.  We also promoted Mr. Diehls work across our FB and twitter audience and other social media of over 5000 plus followers.  We also introduced him to the industries leading podcast publicist.  Again, important to note here we went above and beyond to assist him. When Mr. Diehl asked for very specific edits of his work claiming that “he could have done it the way he wanted it himself” it became glaringly obvious it would be impossible to please him and all of our other clients were not being served.  Is this fair?  In a last act to resolve the matter we forwarded Mr. Diehl all the content he’d paid for, didn't bill him for auxiliary services and gave him a list of other service providers we thought could serve him better.

Mr. Diehl then started sending threatening email messages to our staff.  We informed him via email and instant message there would be no further contact between us after we turned over the digital files. Mr. Diehls claim “She decided to cut off all contact” … is another knowingly false statement.  We informed him that having turned over the content he paid for as well as completing multiple services we could not continue to work with him.  Lastly, Mr. Diehl sent a threatening voice message claiming if the company didn't give $4950 he would spread posts such as these across the internet.  We have screen shots of dozens of places across the internet where he has spammed this knowingly false story and to combat this we went to the compliance authorities at domain.com,  the website host and registrars to alert them. You may email support(at)convertport.com if you would like more information and proof on this matter.  Finally, our company prides itself on delivering results and through our dozens of online radio show interviews, case studies and philanthropic work our values to our clients are obvious.  It is ironic that despite our founder's over 500+ professional endorsements on linkedin and 15+ years of experience the only person to ever make a negative claim is someone promoting the very same project our company worked tirelessly to get off the ground.
