On December 16, 2010 I was charged taxation on Shipping & Handlingon order number 291211267.

Cost of items

$239.70

Shipping & Handling

69.99

Sales Tax

30.19

Total Charge

$339.88

Taxes @ 9.75% should be $23.37. The merchant combined the cost of the items + shipping & handling and taxed both. The explanationgiven was,"some states charge tax onshipping & handling".Contact person: Michelle, emp. #371185. COSTCO Issue #363423. I have never heard oftaxation on shipping & handling.Please advise.

I can tell you that the State of Colorado requires taxes on shipping. Some of our local governments get in on it as well. This is not Costco's fault.

Ask them what state charges taxes on postage.

US Postal, UPS and FedEx do not charge taxes. Maybe they shipped via Joe, or Bob, or Jane's delivery service?
