Country Hearth Inn & Suites Price gouging, misleading advertising, not honoring specials, deceitful service, dishonest sales, Scam St. Robert Missouri

Simply put: this was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at!

I took a cross-country trip at the end of summer 2012 and I had already passed the main cities to find a hotel in so I called AAA and they said this was the closest one to my location. Being as I was dead tired, and they quoted me a low price -- it piqued my interest. However, they said it had a low rating so it'd be better to go in and check out the rooms first to make sure they weren't too dirty.

When I went to check in, I discovered it's run by a foreign husband and wife who were both at the front desk (and who the next morning I'd find out that they live there and do the "cleaning" -- or lack thereof -- themselves). They were rude and spoke horrible English. On top of that, they wouldn't give me the AAA rate. Instead, they charged me a rate that was much higher. Eventually, after threatening to leave, they gave me the military discount (which was still $5 higher than the AAA price) and at that time, I was so sleepy I gave in.

I definitely shouldn't have.

The room was dirty. The bathrooms are tiny and filthy (words can't even describe how filthy the shower was). The towels had hairs in/on them. The bed looked so bad I slept in my clothes then put them in a separate bag the next morning where they remained until I could wash them at my destination. Overall, this was a disgusting experience between the terrible and dishonest management and the squalid conditions of the rooms themselves. I would highly recommend avoiding the Country Hearth Inn & Suites at all costs.

I complained to their corporate headquarters the next week but never heard back. So perhaps the whole chain is bad. Buyer beware!
