I went with my daughter to look at a car because her car was in a collision and was totaled.  Our salesman was new and tried to be nice, but was overshadowed by the arrogant management team. 


First, my daughter was told by this sales manager that he could price a car at a certain amount.  She went back, and he tried to get her to purchase the car at a sizeable increase.  She was so upset, but I convinced her to go back and look for a less expensive vehicle and told her I would go with her.  If I wouldn't have went, my daughter would have been ripped off!


We found a used car.  This sales manager tried to make us feel that he was so interested in helping us and graciously had the general manager come out to meet us and discuss the pricing of this vehicle.  At first, I felt they were being fair, then it happend, the unthinkable.


I looked at the car from a bit of a distance and found that the passenger car door was very dented up.  Then the door behind it was also damaged but someone tried to cover it up.  Then I found more and more chips, scratches, and damaged areas that had been very poorly covered up.


I look at the car facts report and found that this dealer had just purchased this car from an auto auction.  I asked for the dents and other damage to be fixed and we would still buy the car.  The arrogant sales manager told me that we weren't buying a new car and that we'd have to pay to have it fixed.  Then, on the sly he told me he would ask the auto body person to do him a favor and clean the car up, rubbing out some of the damage, etc. but he could not approach the general manager with this or we would lose the "great deal" they had made us.


When I refused to buy the car without all repairs in writing and ask for our $4000 down payment back, they got loud, rude, and we had to threaten them with an attorney.  It took about 45 minutes to get back our money.  Our salesman tried to help us and while he was trying to get our refund, the sales manager bad mouthed our salesman where we could hear his entire bashing of the poor salesman.


The guy behind the counter, the one who tries to close the deals, actually yelled at me and begin to tell me how ingnorant I was!  My daughter was crying and was so upset, she just wanted to leave and they kept upsetting us until our salesman came with our money.  Now, the sales manager comes back and says they will fix all the damage on the car if we still buy it.  I told him they couldn't give me a car from their dealership.


This was a nightmare and in my 40 years of buying cars, this was the worst sales team, other than our salesman, I had ever experienced.  They lie, cheat, and are rude to customers and their own employees. 


Do not patronize this dealer if possible.  There are other dealers who actually treat customers well.  My daughter is paying for a rental car and we thought she would be able to give that back today, instead, because of work and school, she will have to retain and pay for the rental for four extra days thanks to this dealer who basically imprisoned her because they had the money in their possession we needed back.

Because unless you have a lot of information missing.  There does not seem to be a RipOff.  They gave you their "deal" and you didn't like it so you wanted to go elsewhere.  That by itself is not a RipOff.

But where did this $4,000 down-payment you gave them come in?  You don't give any "down-payment" until you actually make a deal.  But even if you did give them $4,000, getting it back in 45 minutes is lightning speed when you are talking about dealers.
