COYNE AMERICAN INSTITUTE WATERED DOWN EDUCATION and STUDENT LOAN DEBT! ripoff CHICAGO Illinois

My brother and his best friend attended coyne american institute back in 2003-2004. They both enrolled in the Electrical maintenance course. I went with my brother to talk to an admissions rep. (might I add that they called our house several times and kept sending literature in the mail to persuade a decision)

The course was a 9 month diploma program, and the rep guranteed my brother job placement, after completion of the course,maintaining a certain GPA and good attendance.

Well after signing the papers for a student loan of over 2700, and out of pocket expenses of over 1200.00, financial aid, and a year after graduation, my brother doesn't have a job in electrical maintenance. (Yes he did keep his end of the bargain as far as maintaining GPA,etc.)

He faithfully attended class 9 months straight, mon-fri from 8am to 1pm!!! He graduated in june of 2004 with an electrical maintenance diploma.

Both him and his best friend say that they regret they ever went to this school. They both feel that they haven't learned the proper qualifying skills to be a deemed a professional electrician. They only learned the basics(such as the name of the covers on a socket switch,etc. or basic wiring which you don't even have to go to school to learn) neither of them could find a job anywhere as a electrician and frankly, based on what they've learned, they don't have the skills and knowledge to be a electrician.

They both feel very cheated and would advise not attending this school.

My brother has a job now, but not as an electrician. His best friend now attends another school and he says the he is learning much more than what he learned at Coyne. Also, their hands on training is a joke.They had little model trays that sat on their desk(something like a grade school science project, with the light bulb and wires.) Now they are both stuck with paying back a student that was absolutely worthless in this case!
Students are always dropping out. That's why the strongly emphasize attendence and the admission reps break their necks to get you to enroll.

After my brother graduated, whenever he would contact the proper personnel about job placement, he could never get through. He also submitted his resume and still never heard from them. But when he was a prospective student, they were ringing our phone of the charger with their harrassing phone calls. A friend of my husbands' had warned us about this school, because he too attended there. But one of my brothers teachers had told him that this was a good school. My brother wishes that he had listened to my husbands' friend. Might I add that my husbands friend also had to attend another school to become an electrician.

Coyne American Institue is all about $$$$$$$$.
We would not reccommend them to anyone.
