I obtained an SBA loan for my company in 2011 from Superior Lending which is now Crossroads.  Automatic payments have always come out each month.  Life was good!  However, when I hit rough times and closed the business, relocated for other work- things got ugly.  I told them I would be paying off this loan regardless but I needed some help to get through a couple tough months.  They gave me a very hard time about my request to switch my auto payment from the 1st of each month to the 10th.  In fact, they had very little interest in helping me with the loan but far more interested in me defaulting, which I had no intention on doing.

I ended up 3 months behind but was in contact with them and started up the monthly payments again and promised to catch the loan up, which I did by sending an extra payment when possible.  Earlier this year,  on two separate occasions,  I sent in an extra payment to them and in turn, they "accidently" turned off my auto payment feature and didnt deduct scheduled payments.  When I found out (I;m guilty of not checking my bank statement), I contacted them and made the payments and got it back on the monthly auto pay.  It was their mistake--not mine as I never changed the authorization to auto debit.

Despite their mistake, they reported me as being 60 days late on my loan to the credit bureau.  My finances have recovered and my first priority is getting this loan refinanced as soon as possible.  As a Veteran, I regret the day that I ever turned to them for a small business loan-- it was one of the worst things I ever did.  I had 4+ years of on time payments and they have treated me horribly and repeatedly threatened to turn my loan over to the Treasury, despite my repeated attempts to work with them and to continue paying on the loan.

The SBA needs to remove them as an approved lender.  The reality is that sometimes businesses hit hard times and when they are doing everything possible to pay off back amounts and pay current payments, they should be far more willing to work with you and just be decent people.

Do not get yourself messed up with these people.  Go to a local lender who you can actually talk to and understands that sometimes, a little flexibility is required.  You WILL NOT get that from this company but you will get lots of threats to turn you in for default and to ruin your credit rating.
