So I posted an ad to Elance.com saying I am in need of a company to help us finish up with web development.

I was contacted by few firms, including Cyberindigo Net Pvt. Ltd. The Cyberindigo asked for a  Skype  chat so we moved  our conversation into that platform The guy from the very begining seemed to be very incompetent. But I thought, "well let me give them a try."

1) I gave all the instructions

2) All the log in information

And I began asking him questions.

He could not tell much. Just - Hi. Hello. Hi are you there. Every 30-60 mins.

So i instructed him, instead of "helloing" like a broken record, ask a question instead and I would answer once i get back.

And what do you think...? Hi, Hello - was ongoing. So I warned them one more time. Instead of Helloing nonstop, while having nothing to say, they should just browse the files given, and review itthem The questions were - they cant find the files (yet they were in var/www (typical location)). Or.. that they dont know how to log in. (just to put the username and password, then click on the link). Or.. they dont understand what does it mean to make a similar layout of the web page given. (sample www were provided).

After all, once "they or he understood" - they should came back with the estimations within an hour. And what do you think... they just removed me from Skype instead and ignored all the messages.

Ah the guy also asked to log into CMS. Instead he logged into the user dashboard area, and he did not even realize it. 

Yet it were only 2 links - user area and admin CMS. So you can understand how professionaly they work. And with this type of disorientation, how much of time would be needed to "over explain" for these field professionals. Its something what they should be doing and giving ideas/advices, but in their opinion - they are the ones who dont know what are they doing, and they assume that you are a coder and everything in one. Oh but dont forget, they will want to get paid for "hallucinating" as well.

I guess they are only capable of scamming for 5 basic web pages layout, charging 100 times more and have someone "not understanding" the tasks, while the billing meter runs at the full speed.

Keep in mind, that usually, if there is 100 hours work needed to actually get something done by a competent developer, they would be looking for at least 300-500 hours to bill you. Once 400 hours is reached, they would "realize" that they could scam you for another 200-300 hours.

So be careful with these type of firms.
