Debt Recovery Solutions Dbtsolutions Collecting on paid debt. Not honoring settlement offer Ripoff Westbury New York
*Consumer Suggestion: Mark, This is why you NEVER pay a third party collector!
This company does not honor settlement offers. I my paid Sprint telephone bill. Then 3yrs later I get a bill from DRS. I called several times to try and get this cleared up, no help.
I am in buying a home and wanted to get this cleared. I arranged a settlement and sent the check. A month later I got a letter saying they wanted another $80.00. They Could not honor my settlement.
This is the second time I paid the bill. Sprint will never see another penny from me, nor will DRS

#1 Consumer Suggestion
Mark, This is why you NEVER pay a third party collector!
AUTHOR: Steve [Not A Lawyer] - (U.S.A.)

Mark,
This is exactly why you NEVER deal with ANY third party collector. NEVER speak to them on the phone, and NEVER send them a payment.
Upon first contact, always send a DEBT VALIDATION request as per the FDCPA. Send this by certified mail, return reciept requested. Be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy for your records. This is very important as it proves what you sent.
In this letter clearly dispute the debt to them. demand to see the original contract that created the alleged debt, as well as a full account history and itemization of charges. Also demand proof that they are legally entitled to collect said debt, and if they claim to own it, demand to see the purchase contract, proof of payment and complete chain of title.
They would need all of this to take you to court, and nobody sues over $80.
However you can sue them for your damages resulting from the frivolous collection and negative report on your credit. You are entitled to be paid.
Sue them now.
