I had ordered a laptop a week ago and now I'm deciding to cancel it because of the problems I've been having in contacting Dell. It now is in the shipping stage and I'm afraid I will receive it and than have to pay to ship it back simple because I couldn't reach anyone. I'm filing this because I filled out a survey tonight and I don't think it will help in correcting the way they do business. I'm for a lack of a much better words pissed off and feel there will be nothing done.

Maybe by posting this something will be done. If this and every thing else you read about dell doesn't show you how bad there customer service is then you should visit Dells forum and read some input from others in customer care. I have also filed the following on there Outstanding Issues page. So here's what I wrote. This should sum up the problems I've had this week with Dell.

With consideration that it is the holiday season and the customer service/sales departments are busy, regardless I am writing in concern about the lack of satisfactory service I have received in the past week. After concluding my first order I later decided to change my initial options. Due to a very busy schedule, whether it is work or other obligations, of which I put aside to sit on the phone for longer periods of times then need be. It is convenient how it takes a matter of minutes to order a PC, but one hour on hold to speak to one of your representatives.

This matter did not only occur once, but three times. It is crucial that this issue gets resolved due to my job and the limited time I am allowed. In attempt to reach you I have also encountered difficulties in disconnections, network down time, or all lines were full.

In attempt to change my order prior to you shipping would have deleted the liability of shipping costs on my end to send the product back for change or fixing. I refuse to pay the shipping to send my laptop back because of the difficulties you have on your end of the agreement. I attempted to contact you numerous times with result of nothing. If I approximated the amount of
time I spent endeavored in contacting you it would be close to a full days work. Frankly this is ridiculous.

After research I have discovered that it would cost me $600 to fix this issue myself had I been able to contact you on this it would not be an issue. If I knew the grief prior I would have canceled my order or gone elsewhere. In the meantime as noted in my costs
compared to your updates the laptop I have purchased has increased by $400 and the upgrade by $80. As an unsatisfied customer, my options are limited whether it be returning your product and taking my service elsewhere or you find a solution to this problem before others become disgruntled. As a short time customer and it being a second time purchase, referred to you in good name by family and friends I have yet to agree with them.

I will no longer be contacting you because now it is not my place as you have created a problem I will not find the solution for. I am not expecting exemplary service as other customers need to be treated just as equal as another, but the extensive periods of time wasted have been discouraging. The minimal times that I have spoken to a representative there has been difficulty understanding due to the lack of English. As frustrating as it may be for them and me, I was not going to hang up or be put on hold again to wait for someone else to speak to.

I will be waiting for a representative to contact me for a resolution as I would like to believe that your company is worth spending my hard earned money on. All results will be passed on and will reflect, small or not, in the future.

So there you have it, a piece of Dells "award winning customer service" they falsely promote.
