I ordered a Dell Inspiron 1521 on 8/5, and the delivery date was 8/20. Since then, my order has been delayed 4 times. I have called customer service each time. Answers vary from, "we don't know anything you don't know" to "it's still in production" to "you should understand that a company like ours has no control over when an product gets made." I was refused "escalation" to a supervisor 3x, with excuses like "he/she is not here" or I was simply hung up on. When I finally got through to 1 manager, he also told me he didn't know when production would be completed and without listening to me further, hung up as well.

Agreeing with Cynical this is not a rip off anyway or form and you received it in a mannerly time as if you read closely when configuring the system there is a "Preliminary Ship Date" or the ETA for when the system ships under the price in red font though say a part goes on backorder then that could take a bit longer, then when you goto choose the shipping there is this block of text
"Delivery option refers to the time it takes for your order to arrive after it has shipped - it does not include the time it takes us to process and have your order built/prepared for delivery."
I'm sorry but I don't see anything wrong here.

This isn't really a rip-off...

It's just an inconvienience. Really, how did they rip you off? Did you never recieve the computer and they are still charging you? Did they charge you more money to wait?Did they affect you monetarily in any fashion? Sir, I think you may be a bit confused as to what a rip off really is.
rip-off (rip'f')
noun
- the act or an instance of stealing, cheating, exploiting, misrepresenting, etc.
- a product that is overpriced, esp. one that is inferior or an imitation
This might fall under misrepresentation, if you hold the term loosly to its meaning here...unless they promised it would definately be delivered on a certain date, and didn't approximate, (which I know as a customer Dell doesn't do, they always say things like 'on or before october 16th') they definately did not rip you off. So quit whining and be patient. You should have known already that when you order with any company, you may be delayed. If you wanted instant gratification, you should have bought it in-store.
