I have a complaint. Store 495, 515 S. MACARTHUR IRVING, TX.,8:47am, I did uscan, operator 514,terminal 83, transaction 13, total purchase $28.80. Derek Lakey confronted me outside the store. He said, Did you pay? I said yes. He said, No one saw you pay. I said, I went through uscan. He said, no you didn't. No one saw you.

I got my two year old niece out of the car again and went back in the store. I checked for a receipt at terminal 83 and their was not one there for some reason. The machine failed to print one and I forgot to even look for it after I paid earlier. I told Derek Lakey again, I paid and I don't shoplift. He said, You have one minute til I call the police. You left my store without paying. We need to bring all the food back in the store.

I went to my car and got the food and he went outside with me. The cashiers started ringing the food up again at a ucan register. I said, dont you need to check on my payment first. I am not going to pay again until you check on my payment. I told Derek Lakey I need an apology after you find out I paid. I mentioned earlier, if they could do some checking for the receipt before telling me to go to my car and get the food. That's when he said, You have 1 minute before I call the police to go get the items out of the car.

Derek Lakey finally went and pulled the receipt. He asked for my kroger card. The Kroger Plus customer number matched and he gave me the receipt and he never apologized at all. He probably never spoke to the cashiers who told him they didn't see me pay. I looked at his name badge and wrote his name down while he was looking.

This is totally wrong procedures for shoplifting.
I am very disappointed in Kroger and Mr. Derek Lakey is horrible and rude. He was rude and nasty before he even found out if I really had done something wrong. They should have checked for the receipt first thing. But they said no one saw me pay, they rang up the grocery again before checking to see if I paid, and he said I had one minute before he called the police to go get the food out of my car. They should have pulled the receipt before doing all these steps. Unbelievable. I should contact my attorney regarding this improper conduct in Kroger.

Also, for the humiliation, degrading me, embarrassing me, and for wrongfully accusing me of shoplifting and detaining me. The gift certificate sent to me by Mr.Derek Lakey for $35 is not equal to the suffering. Also, his phone message admitting he falsely accused me and his letter admitting he falsely accused me is not sufficient. He needs to be reprimanded by his boss also.

Furthermore, I was not questioned in private. But,in front of employees and shoppers. This manager showed a lack of fear. He could have gotten the company into legal trouble. Whatever he has in his Kroger Store is not worth disrespecting and dishonoring me.I have been a Kroger shopper for years and my mom took me there as a child in Arkansas. I was very disappointed in Derek Lakey's behavior.

I had an incident with Kroger that was somewhat similar. I was an employee for maybe two months with them. First of all I was hired part-time, but made to work a full-time schedule. When I questioned it the accusations started. They began saying that my register was short. First it was $9 then it was $14. They never allowed me to see them counting my draw down. How do I know that they were just staching the money to get rid of me. I have been a cashier for many years before working at Kroger. I have always had a 99% cash balancing rate and if my draw was off, it would be only by pennies. It really pises me off that they accused me of taking the money, when they had no proof and would not allow me to recount the draw after being accused of being short.
